Altima headers on 6thgen maxima pt 2

So as you all know I just did the 04 altima headers on my 04 maxima but I wasn't happy with the outcome and was seriously considering converting back to stock, not anymore...

I was 100% happy with the ebay N1 catback with the 14816 magnaflow muffler but the car wasn't fast enough so I decided to add the headers, and that's when the headache started. After the headers install the car was excessively loud, the smell that came out the exhast was horrible to the point that anyone who trailed me on the hwy would stay well back, blue smoke like crazy and just flat out annoying. So I went back to the drawing bored and added some more upgrades to my system.

I spent a ton of money but it's all worth it now. I needed something to reduce the noise so I went with the Magnaflow 10436 resonator and it reduce the noise by a good 30-40% but the smoke and the gas smell was still there so I added the Magnaflow 99305HM catalytic converter and it reduced the smoke and noise by another 10% and now i'm back to beind 100% happy again...

So i'm going to upload some pics and video clip and let me know what you all think. Magnaflow all day every day.

It sounds good but that smoke is not because of the new exhaust set up.

Your car must get beaten on because there's another underlying issue there.

Well I didn't have that issue before the headers. I'm assuming because I removed the cats everything is coming out raw and unbroken. But what do I know, I only started moding this car a few months ago.

Do you drive your car everyday all year round? Does your car have 219K on the original? Doubt it

I got the altima headers, ebay N1 catback, and magnaflow 14816 mufflers. What do you have? Trust me man, before the headers I had no loud noise, smell or smoke. As soon as I installed the headers the problems started. Not sure if your motor has as much mileage as mine and have a full custom exhaust but I do.

What's your question? How much I paid for my whole system? I don't understand what you wrote

OAN: car sounds fantastic but i agree on the car smoking because it was ragged on/not taken care of...only time my car smoked was w/o a cat converter and when i redlined it..i always had black soot on my back bumper, but my car wasnt smoking...it was just no 'filter' for the exhaust, so it was all on my back bumper..was a ***** especially since the car was white, but nothing a wkly wash couldnt handle

sounds pretty nice man, and that's coming from someone who prefers stock/sleeper quietness . congrats on finally getting a result you are satisfied with. Happen to have any in-cabin videos / sound clips so we can see how it sounds while driving?

Honestly I spent a ton of money trying to get it the way I want. I would say with parts and labour overall I spent well over 2 G's because I used all name brand parts and the brokerage got me. Labour was a bit because I did it in parts. I'm happy with the outcome and this is all a learning experience for me.

Just a few months ago I was all about the show, knew absolutely nothing about drag racing, and modifying maxima's for performance. Now i'm waiting for the tracks to open to see where my money went.

I did that man but he seems to be getting access to my threads. I want nothing to do with him but I can't stop him from commenting. His opinion doesn't matter and when he does say something it's never good.

I have the Cattman headers, with racingline y-pipe, and Greedy SE catback. No cats whatsoever.

There's nothing left to do bro. It's perfect, best sound ever, and I got a catalytic converter on ther now so there's no way a ontario provincial police can seize my car. I just have to extend the O2 sensors and I'll be happy. The car burns oil badly so that could be why there's still smoke. I won't touch it after the 2 g's plus I already spent on getting it where it is. I really never bargained for all this but it's a learning experience. RAZ76 needs love so he comes on hear and pic on members. He's hating and I'm constantly improving.

And there you have it.. the underlying issue.

I wouldn't take an oil burner of that magnitude to the track.

the sound and selection of parts are up to par, i was basically talking about the shops installation procedure regarded to the rear mufflers..they are sitting low, they can, at worse, make brackets to have it sit up higher to the bumper. it wont melt the bumper. other than that though, very well executed in all of your exhaust mods

I wonder if doing the headers earlier would have negated the oil burning issue.

I think this is the way ti go, probably too late for everyone at this point.

The muffler was installed to the GT-R bodykit in my signature pic. The kit is off because I got rear ended just before the winter season. I'm leaving it off and I'm not going to modify it bcause the kit will be going on for the summer. It's track time now so the big rims and bodykit are off until I get a good few weeks at the track, get that bragging rights and the I'm back to show mode.

The car looks good now but don't get any attention. I prefer to get the title of the guy with the 2tone paint job, lambo doors and 22's because when it's that way it's the most unique and modded up 6thgen in Canada. Track days I'll switch the rims and I'm ready to go.

Nice vids. This can show everyone the difference in cabin volume and "meaness" of a header set up vs a CAI and catback (which still sounds good to0)

LOL Raz seems to get that a lot

The only thing I find odd is the smell and the smoke, I wonder if this has anything to do with not being tuned? I know you cured it with a cat but I suspect your cat won't last more than a year. Well mine didn't really, I passed emissions with it, but in a year it was dead. Maybe yours will last longer.

I have an SAFCII installed and dyno tuned, no cats, no smoke or smell other than at start up. (smell) Once the engine warms up, pretty much normal.

Keep up the good work, pics and vids. Others may use this and learn from your mistakes and success.

Stupid!? Very intelligent response. How can I have followed you from youtube to my6thgen to here when I've had my Youtube account since 04? Been a member here 2 years before you joined and been a 6th gen member since a month after it opened?? I know my words are harsh sometimes and because of that people don't like me but I don't give a shet. I tell it like I see it. There's nothing on your car that Im jealous of, I got everything you got and a lot more, minus the Autozone stuff and that fugly body kit and wanna be lambo kit.. Your ebay stuff doesn't intimidate me one bit. You can't stand to see me but you don't.... Rust proofing or not, who spray paints everything like that( had no idea plastic rusts), looks like crap and then takes a pic of it and expect props, I mean get real dude. Do it right the first time or don't post that crap and expect me not to share my opinion on a forum. Im not hating, just talking some trash and your vagina is all crusty and full of sand that cant take some criticism ... How can someone not come back for more of that shet. Are you insecure? Im some guy trash talking on a computer thousand of miles away and you get all butt hurt, you a girl or the type that would shoot someone because they hurt their feeling with trash talking? Asking why you mufflers are soo low(which they are) is hating?? Asking why you spray painted your L control arms with rust proof is hating?? Your lower control arms are aluminum, last time I checked aluminum doesn't rust....lmfaooo. What exactly do you contribute that I don't? Grow up you pansy!!

Appreciate the comment man. I've done more than I can imagine and i'm far from done. I still have the 5pc spacer to install, the PCV valve and the spark plugs. The last thing will be a tune then dyno. I hope with the thousands of dollars I spent I hit a 14.3-14-5 realistically speaking and with those drag radials and light weight rims i'll be launching at around 3000rpm to start, after that i'll be going higher until the wheel spin occurs. I'm mad excited

I'm telling you man, just don't comment on my threads. Your opinion don't matter. When I meant you follow me around I mean you commented on my youtube vidoes, you trash talked me on my6thgen and now you're lame attempt to gain experience points by posting comments where it's not needed. The thread was about a "headers install" not me doing a quick rust proofing before the car came off the hoist.

You're trying to build a reputation by running your mouth. This a forum and you should sharing and contributing by moding your car instead you're critizing my whip. People are talking about my car not yours. Guess that hurt huh??? You want to be a critic then the forum is the wrong place. Apply for a job in the entertainment industry, be a blogger and work beside Paris hilton or a judge on american idol. Just stay off my threads and have nothing to tell me. Don't send me any apology PM and/or friend request. Keep hating player, i'm still improving. SOMEONE PLEASE TELL RAZ76 TO STAY OFF MY THREADS

Just a few months ago I was all about the show, knew absolutely nothing about drag racing, and modifying maxima's for performance. Now i'm waiting for the tracks to open to see where my money went.
Nah just wanted to know since I have the Cattman Setup and people be like its to much money and **** but dont mind since I love the sound and performance, I am a little over 2 racks also....

The thread was about a "headers install" not me doing a quick rust proofing before the car came off the hoist. (regardless, you posted a pic, I saw some ricearoni and I commented. If you didn't want commenting on your poor job of coating parts that dont rust with anti rusting paint, then you should crop those parts out, next time maybe)

You're trying to build a reputation by running your mouth(Again Im not trying to build anything, my build threads all over the internet on diffrent cars I have owned speak for themselves). This a forum and you should sharing and contributing by moding your car instead you're critizing my whip(again, open forum for everyone to comment whatever they like, your job to filter what to take and not to take. Obviously you are pretty weak and insecure to do that). People are talking about my car not yours. Guess that hurt huh??? (I never care if people talk about my car or not, most of the time I don't even post pics of my car because I don't build my car to show off, I build it for me. Im my own critic)You want to be a critic then the forum is the wrong place( no it is not. A forum is open for everyone to comment. If you don't like it then open a private chat somewhere and invite whoever you like). Apply for a job in the entertainment industry, be a blogger and work beside Paris hilton or a judge on american idol( I have no business being a judge on American Idol since I don't know crap about music. Bad analogy there smart guy. May also learn to spell and capitalize words like American..etc). Just stay off my threads and have nothing to tell me( as long as you get butt hurt, I have plenty to tell you). Don't send me any apology PM and/or friend request( Why the fock would I do that? I don't befriend idiots). Keep hating player, i'm still improving( I see nothing worth hatting, I see nothing but a smoking POS).SOMEONE PLEASE TELL RAZ76 TO STAY OFF MY THREADS ( are you done crying to the mods like a little biatch??)

Yeah because I bought things bit by bit it added up. Had I gone and said I want this system and I got a $2200 quote I'd ask if he was on some meds. Lol. I mean I could of stayed with the ebay catback but it would of looked ugly and I hate single tips. I was happy with the sound but I wanted performance so I added the performance headers, with that came noise, smoke and polution. That when the resonator and the catalytic came in. Exhaust is a funy thing and you ust gotta experiment until you get the right sound. Just gotta extend the O2 sensor wires and install the spacers and I'm track ready...

Cool, mine would of been under 1900 but go my Headers Coated and still looks the same and they cool down hella fast, our 1/4 mile track closed down for a moment due to the noise, but hoping it opens back up so I can hit it up...
