I'm still here, by accident
As some of you may know, I am parting out my 4.5 gen. My wife has had a 2010 civic since it was new and its been a great car.
It was raining a few weeks ago and my wife turning left off a 4lane through the median hit a pothole hidden by a layer of water. Car still drove fine and nothing looked bad from first glance so we didnt think much of it. A squeeking noise then started a few days later. I think the obvious, blow strut. No big, I'll just warranty it and get it fixed for free. I get to the dealership and WOW. Bent subframe and slightly bent mounting points on the frame itself. $2500 rough estimate to fix, probably more. $500 deductable with insurance but then I'm left with a record of the car being broken. So what did I do?

38k miles SL 2007 they had on lot. Mint condition. New hoses/belts/ brakes/ tires.
Same car payment, better car, better options. I'm still here guys. Didn't have to miss me too long i hope.

What should you do? Tell your wife to stop lying! Either she hit a pot hole the size of Texas and ownes some sort of artificial gravity generator or she really ran over something lol
Bad luck man. I've hit some really crazy pot holes in my life, the only time I've done what you just said was the time I ran over a curb in a rental maxima to avoid a head on collision. Exactly what you said happened to that poor maxima. And I got a little airborn so she did something big. However you did exactly what I did. Ruin the 4th gen and buy a 6th gen. So congrats! Welcome to the 6th gen section!

Ps I'm just messin, I'm not calling anyone a liar. I've heard of people warping their strut towers from potholes, however the bent subframe is a first. I'm thinking it was bent before you bought it. Cause that's some serious damage from a pothole
And talking of warped struts, I probably have one at the moment. I ran into some bad pothole last week. I saw it at the last moment, avoided it but not quite. It was the front passenger side. On inspection, a section of the rim of the wheel got bent, and of course the car juddered. My mechanic changed the nuts holding the struts as they were bent too. The wheel was also changed. There's been an improvement, but there's still a judder between 40 and 60 mph which drives me nuts. My mechanic is going to check it again. But could it be that the struts would have to be replaced?

Yeah, nice job posting on my thread and calling my wife a liar. Also, we bought the car new. No damage with 6 miles on it. I saw the hole, and i can see how it did the damage. The subframe is much different on a new civic than any maxima. It has thinner metal and its not set up in a way that would prevent damage if you bottom the car out. What I said is what happened, and I nor you have any reason to question it.

It handles so much better. Heavier steering but less body roll and way more planted. About twice the hp too. I have some 5.5 gle wheels from my 4th to put on it. Maybe with some 10 or 20mm spacers . I need a trunk with spoiler though. And a cai and nwp set. That'll be it for mods. Fuel savers and slight power adders. Are the precast as bad about killing the motor on the 6.5s as they are on 5.5s? And what do I do to increase the life of this cvt?
