Thinking of buying one...

So, I'm in the market for a new (to me) car and I've heard good things about Nissan and longevity. The one I spotted is a 2004 SE with 78k on it and the dealer wants 9950. What do you think of this deal?

I should add that I don't know crap about auto repair and maintenance, not a gear-head at all, that's why I seek out the experts like you. All opinions appreciated!

Miles aren't bad. Drive it and see how the tranny feels, also make sure you do a cold start to see if you have timing tensioner/guide issues. (clacking sound)

Good luck and try to talk them down on price about $8000 don't forget it is still an 04.

Bring a mechanic with you. Preferrably a family mechanic, or if you have a friend/acquaintance that is one, etc.etc. Check tensioners, front suspension (struts), transmission (shifting, going from park to drive, etc), also inspect engine mounts.

For a newbie(?) I would have been more comfortable with an 04 SL 4speed. Ask around.

Hopefully you're reading up on the STICKYs and the forum. Any car could have issues. Some here are serious, but not necessarily true for every 04 out there.
