160k+ miles to much ??

Just was looking for some answer to my question
A friend is selling his 04 maxima with 160k plus miles for 2000
But the transmission needs to get fixed but other than that the car was taken care of
Should I buy it or is it not worth it
Thanks

Look for a sticky in this forum regarding automatic transmission repair.
For $2K, factor in the cost of a transmission fix, and judge the deal based on that

if it's the 5AT transmission, add the cost of the valve body upgrade in as well, or else you'll be right back to replacing the trans again soon.

Bruiser

An '04 for 2 grand? I'd jump on it! You can get a rebuilt tranny installed for 3-4k, and still be ahead.

160k on these cars is just a break in period. if the previous owner kept up on basic maint (oil changes brakes tune ups ect ect) all keep seeing is that these cars can last FOREVER. the 3.0 and 3.5 nissan v6 are quite tough engines. Good luck with the car
