So what are 2004 Maximas going for?

My car is for sale and I wondering what the prices for the Maximas are going for? Im asking $10k firm for my car , but no interest. I'll be including 2007 HID headlights since I started on the 2007-2008 look on my car but needs the 2007-2008 hood and fog lights to finished, which I found but no longer interested in getting. My car has 90k miles and has complete records of items fixed, pretty much clean and has some minor issues such the famous roof strips peeling.

Kelly blue book does not represent actual market prices.

Truth.

Op your car is worth what someone will pay for it. Look around to see what they are going for in your area.

EDIT: Craigslist in Phoenix, AZ...there are a number of 2004 maxim as for sale, BY OWNER, prices are $5400-$7900

Cosmetic mods really don't do anything for a cars worth, unless the buyer is knowledgeable on said parts

They do when its make the car look better which is what the 2007-2008 looks do to my 2004. Everybody thought it was a different car when I changed the front out

just leave your price at 10k see if you get any hit ups but modifications add close to nothing especially aesthetic mods i bought my whip with 12k in mods for 5500 and it only had 79k miles i have a tsx with around 10k invested in it and a stock tsx is around 12-14k that doesnt mean ima sell it for 25k i would sell it for around 15k. book value doesnt mean much in this crappy economy what counts is true market value what does a car actually sell for. i buy and sell cars once in a while to make a few extra bucks

While I understand what you are saying and I would never put any perf mods into this car, I think the visual aspect for the 2004 is unquestionable for the car. The 2004-2006 stock grill and bumber look is ugly, I think someone who is looking for a better looking car would prob pay more for a car that looks better

you can get a lil more but not thousands my tsx has a custom two tone paint job, custom rims, full mugen lip kit, cf hood, cf grill, tinted tail lights, mugen spoiler, lowering springs for aesthetic looks and i dont think i can get much more then book value for it. people will be willing to pay a little extra since its one of a kind but not more then its actually worth. but yea if i were you dont rush the sale you might be able to get your asking price. goodluck

My 04 SL has about every option... nav, roof, dpp etc and I wouldn't expect to get more than $8,000 for my car private party with 116k on it.

Good deal only if it was the 6 speed but if its the 5 speed auto ...Good luck with that because any good deal would soon turn into a bad deal if the tranny requires any work

I traded in my 04 with 130,000 miles for $7,000, id imagine could have sold it for 8-9k. THis was a year ago so figure those numbers are down now.

I paid $11,700 from a private seller for my 04 maxima with 67,000 miles back in 2012 but it was in great condition and looked like a show room car(garage kept) with out any flaws. I know I over paid but I fell in love with the radiant ember paint (orange). 6 months later I had to replace cam & crank sensors for $500 and $2000 more to replace catalytic....other then that car has been fine, im at 79,000 miles now 1 year later.

When did you have the cats replaced? If it was in 2012 or before, it should have been covered under the 8 year/80k warranty.

You can't ask that question...look at his responses so far....his answer would be heavily biased and opinionated.

EDIT: this goes for anyone really. Owners of cars/houses etc always usually think their item is 'special' and worth a lot more than it really is.

I don't think this is special by any means, like I said the right buyer will come along and buy the car because its worth it to them, I don't have any "mod" money invested in this car cause its a waste

Here you state your car is probably worth more..ie 'special' in a sense. Not to mention, what you stated is an opinion, not a fact. Looks are subjective. The average person won't give 2 ****s about the cosmetic mods you did to the car. You'll have to wait for that specific buyer that knows and appreciates what you've done.

Does this information hold any water?

Craigslist buyers are flaky ...maybe 1 in 10 will make the effort to come out and look at car..lots of emails with low ball offers...which I ignore...I just also put it on auto trader...some of these comments from the "peanut" gallery amuse....why you perplexed Wizard? It will sell but only when the right person comes along...

I had catalytic convertor replaced in November of 2012 with only 75,000 miles but warranty did not cover since it was 11 months past 8 year factory warranty on catalytic. in other words , Nissan tried me....
