Changing the chrome trim color??

I'm looking to change the color of the chrome trim that runs along the roof of the car and down along the rear window. im not sure if anyone else has done this. if so how have you gone about doing it? was it replaced with a new colored trim or was it painted over? if it was painted over was the trim removed before hand or was it done while still attached. any thoughts on this or suggestions would be helpful thanks.

I think I will order black out tape too. I painted my strips but it looks average. And the rear part still isnt blacked out.

Thats where I got mine last September. The cheapest I could find on the interenet at the time. It still looks the same as the day I applied it. Not coming up at all.

Plastic dip them, that's what I did and it has held up for over a year now in the South Florida sun.

Taped everything off on both sides, & sprayed mine over the weekend. Looks pretty good & people don't really notice its not factory unless they know already.
I Didn't realize until after that the little plastic to the right of the back strip is weathered & white looking, I'll have to re-do that...
