6th gen upkeep costs
6th gen upkeep costs
What do you guys think about the maintenance cost on our 6th generation Maxima's vs the 7th gen and previous gens? Also for the 6th what fuel economy numbers you guys see mostly?
As mentioned in previous post I bought mine in 2011 and have spent about $8000 to $9000 50% of that being covered under warranty. My brother also has a 6th gen 06SE got it brand new but he's burned out wants to get rid of his he has 134,000 and one of the lucky ones who hasn't had his tranny go out I have 88000 . I'm trying to hang on to mine until I get something else and just keep it. Any of you guys ever been left stranded or broken down in one of these 6ths?

had to get a tow.Once the transmission issue was fixed, I was good for a few years and then only broke down a couple more times, which was the summer of this year. That was due to the crankshaft position sensor. I thought it was the cam sensors, replaced them but still had the issue. Changing out the crankshaft sensor fixed it, but at that point I had already decided it was time to move on to something else.
CRiME You actually got stranded dude? The Crank sensor i'm dealing with that right now It gives me a hard start every once in a while. My brother is tired of his SE he hates it. My SL I got lucky and they fixed my transmission before I bought it at Nissan yours must be an 04?
I'm trying to hold on to this thing I really dont wanna turn it in I was planning on getting a big SUV and drive this one to work so i'll have a extra car on the side. I'm trying to hold on but If I get stranded that's gonna be the end of it! If I get rid of this car i'm gonna get me a Lexus because I need something reliable

When I got my I30 at a Nissan dealer a few years ago I remember some guy was talking to my dad about how they had got a pre-owned 2005 less than a month from when we were there and the trans went out. Guy left in a new Murano.
Mine was an 05. Yeah, the transmission left me stranded but I was just hapy I didn't get into an accident, because it was a busy street. It downshifted with a bang while coming to a stop and then just literally grinded to a stop
The next time I got stuck I had just done some shopping and was driving out of the mall, when she shut off and refused to restart. She would turn over and over but just would not crank. Had to drop it into neutral and push her off to the side. This was after I had already put in some new OEM CAM sensors. Sat for about 30 minutes and then she started and was stuck in 5th. I coasted home, changed the crank sensor, which appeared to fix the problem. After that I was just burned out with the car just like your brother currently is, and got rid of it the next day

MaxMike93 Infiniti I30s are bullet proof solid you'll never had a problem out of that or a 5gen Maxima.
CRiME There's just a good amount of stress behind owning a 6th max dude. He got his SE brand new his drivers window doesn't roll down, headlights going out on the left, needs bearings again, his timing chain is making jailhouse rattles.
Mine I've done mounts,CV Joints,AC hose, timing chain that engine is pretty much new under there. Cam sensors giving me problems, valve cover leak just fixed now power steerings leaking I only drive it once a week now and use the other cars.

You guys having shimmy problems it's not just the Maxima look on youtube http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...el+shimmy&sm=3
Our shimmies are light compared to these. That has driven me crazy but it's never been this bad as the one in this video.
