Can 16 inch wheels clear the 6th gen calipers?

As the title says... Just for some background info, I have Se-r calipers, brackets, rotors, etc. on my 5th gen. From what i know, they're the same as the 6th gen brakes. I just want to be able to run some 16s with slicks for the track and i needed some insight on how i go about doing so. I tried 16s before and they wouldn't clear the calipers but, then i read that there are people with 6th gens that run 16s for the track. Is it the offset? Is there shaving involved? And what are the requirements to make this stuff work? Thanks.

I've never tried it but this is what I've read on my6thgen.org

17s are the smallest you can go, according to that thread.
