Car Shut Off

Hello All,
After arriving to work this morning I left the car running to go inside the building. When I came out I attempted to put car in reverse when I noticed it had cut off. When I attempted to start it stuttered for a few cranks and after a 3rd crank she started but it was sputtering. This was 630 in the morning. Now it is 3pm and I am hoping that she starts and she did with no problem. I got home and attached a scanner and I got P1800 fault code. Does anyone know what this means also I was thinking do I need to change my fuel filter? The car has 198000 miles on it and I seriously don't remember changing the fuel filter in years.
Thank you for your help!
Blake

p1800 - VIAS Control Solenoid Circuit Malfunction

If you pull off the engine cover. I believe it is the solenoid with the vacuum hoses attached next to a small canister right on top. I think the checks are to inspect the hoses for rot and leaks and disconnect it, cap it off, apply 12v current and it should click. Don't think that would shut it off though. But not really sure.

That's all I have on this. Hope others can help more.

Car ShutOff

Thanks for the info. I went to Nissan and purchased the vais control solenoid valve and replaced it. I thought I was good until 30 minutes later the car started to hesitate and slightly shake then cut off again. I had the scanner with me so I scanned again and the same 1800 code was there but iforgot to scroll the first time and discovered P0340 error. According to the book that's the camshaft position sensor A bank 1. Could this be the reason for the eventual shut off .

Try changing the camshaft sensor.
They say you should change the camshaft and crankshaft sensors at the same time.
I know I did.
I had the problem where my car would shut off too.
Changed those two sensors and it hasn't happened again.
