Current load on power socket?
Current load on power socket?
Hi: I am dealing with a melted power socket, the one to the right of the shifter. The car is a 2007 Maxima SE V6.
The fuse is 15A the socket itself is stamped 120W or 10A at 12 volts.
I realized my device (oxygen generator) is drawing up to 11.5 amps.
No wonder the socket melted and no longer works.
I was going to replace it with stock until I realized the load was too high for the socket.
I can acquire an aftermarket socket that I can fit, rated at 15A.
My question is will the original wiring handle the current?
Alternatively I can run heavy fused wiring from the battery and use the original circuit to control a relay.
I cannot find anywhere in the manual info on wiring gauge.
Thanks for any help.
