2005 turbine revolution sensor

I've had my maxima for a few months (mileage ~150000). My transmission has been shifting very roughly and sometimes gets stuck in 5th gear. Check engine code p0717 (turbine revolution sensor). Is the turbine revolution sensor the same as the speed sensor? People at Autozone, OReily's, and NAPA didn't seem to know much about the turbine revolution sensor. I ended up buying the speed sensor. I tried to replace it (I'm not very experienced with working on cars), but the sensor I pulled out was a 2 prong sensor while the new sensor that I bought was a 3 prong sensor. Obviously I was trying to replace the wrong sensor. Where exactly is the turbine revolution sensor? Is it accessed from underneath the car or can it be reached from above? Any help would be appreciated.

See page 105 in the service manual, link below. The sensor is on the top of the transmission, but I'm not certain how easy it is to get to. The sensor has a 2 pin connector, so take the one you bought back.
