3000+rpm problems

I have a 2006 nissan maxima se. I did not have problems prior to recent maintenance. I took my car to a local mechanic and had them change the spark plugs and the air filter while they were under the hood. I bought oem laser platinum spark plugs and a k&n air filter. All was fine until about a week after. As I hit about 3000rpm, my car would feel somewhat shaky. It would also feel as if it was losing power. After doing some research a found it might be the cati or the air flow, so my hope is they didn't install the air filter properly. Any suggestions? all are appreciated.

happy retirement

I bought oem "ngk" from a local nissan dealer. I stopped driving the car for a few days. Now the car runs fine. I hit 3000+rpm and nothing weird is felt or heard. I test drove it on the freeway and hit 80+mph. Similarly, the car seems to run fine. No abnormality is felt with respect to power, acceleration, etc. I was thinking that maybe the car was adjusting to new spark plugs and/or K & N air filter(previously stock filter). Any thoughts?

The experience of some is that the oily K & N air filter is ruinous to the MAF sensor. I think you should watch out.

They come over oiled all the time. Huge reason why I avoid them.

I'm sure your MAF could use a cleaning.
