Sold the '05 today. Better statement would be that I got rid of the '05 today. I owned three Maxima's, '89, 97' & '05. '89 and 97' were just great cars. '89 SE had 237,000 miles on it when I sold it and my younger sold totaled the '97 SE at 97,000. Could not say enough good things about those two vehicles. That is the reason that my son purchased the '05 and my other son purchased '06 Murano. I believe that just about every issue discussed on in the forum has happened with the exception of ABS problems. Car has just been a nightmare. Car got so undependable that we gave him our Avalon and I took the Maxima. Sad thing is that we have purchased two vehicles in the past 12 months but because of the many issues with the Maxima and Murano I never stepped foot on Nissan dealer lot. So sad because the 1st two vehicles were such great vehicles. Nissan may have corrected their issues in the last 9 to 10 years but I could not take a chance and purchase another Nissan product.

Lucky you the ABS issue was a classic, I recall standing on the brake pedal with both feet trying to stop the car from creeping into traffic (a 5 year old car at the time with under 60,000 miles by the way).

Same here ...

I was hooked on Nissan due to huge discounts ... Started with the '97GLEMax then '99PathfinderXE (bankruptcy at the time for Nissan) with $8k-off-MSRP.
Both of them had been great (my nephew is still running the Max ... the Pathy was totaled last year) ... onto the '04MaxSE and '07MuranoSL (again huge
$7K discounts).
* '04Max: many popular troubles around here ... except timing chain and trans ... My niece is still driving it (free gift) during summer... ~150Kmiles.
* '07Murano: if it's liquid, it leaks (except the trans) .. Freon, radiator, oil-seal, power-steering .. once-in-awhile a mysterious engine shakes (like bad gas).. all engine-mounts done...
My wife is still driving ~130Kmiles ...

Probably will not buying any more Nissan ... Got a '14Avalon (hate Toyota's blandness, but this car looks good) ...Researching the next car for wifey (in a few years).

Seems as if Nissan really shat the bed with the 04/5/6 Maxima.
