Tranny shifts hard when cold fix for 2004 SE?

I have the 2004 Nissan Maxima with the five speed automatic tranny and whenever I drive it I have to warm it up before driving to avoid dealing with the tranny shifting so hard. Here's how it goes, in the morning or whenever I get into my Maxima and wait a few seconds before driving the second I shift into either Reverse or Drive it makes a really bad shift into said gear, it bangs into the gear but after it warms up it is silky smooth. But the driving is what scares me most sine while driving cold it shifts really hard from first to second and it misses third gear so it shifts into fourth and fifth isn't all that noticeable but I can feel it shift into fifth. Can anyone point me into a direction that I could repair it? It has 136k miles and it is still running strong. Please I don't want to get rid of it I absolutely love it minus the annoying tranny. And not sure if this might hint towards anything but the engine also makes a loud whining noise on the very right side of the car it is probably a serpentine belt pulley but that is something I will deal with later. My main concern is the transmission. Any help is much appreciated
