Power Steering hi pressure hose leaks

Has anyone found, that when the leaks have developed near the hi pressure fittings, the leak can be fixed by replacing the O rings and washer instead of the entire hose?
If I see no evidence of leakage at the rubber hose crimp connection, then could it be that the O ring and washer are all that's needed?
I've found that this is a common problem on the 6th gen (mine is an 06 SE w/ 118k mi) and I don't want to yank the entire hose when it is just the washer/ring that's bad. I haven't been able to crawl under and do a thorough leak investigation yet but want to understand where these things typically leak.
tks.

Well I got a Gates hi pressure hose on eBay for ~$70 and had my local shop put it in for $200. Problem fixed.
