2005 Maxima SE Upgrades
2005 Maxima SE Upgrades
Hello All,
I've searched through our forum and haven't found any newer information on performance upgrades, and just wanted to talk a bit about any recent ones anybody has done.
I recently purchased my 2005 and yes I know the old adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" so consider that as already dismissed.
In order of interest, I'm looking at the following:
1) Cat-back exhaust (for better sound, hopefully better mileage, modest gain in power.)
2) Cold Air Intake. I've seen discussion on this, everything from "waste of money" to "best bang for the buck EVER". So, may or may not do this after exhaust.
3) Intake spacer to keep the intake from receiving as much heat transfer from the heads. (Same as 2.)
4) New programming for the ECM (however that can be done, chip, reprogram, etc.) to allow for any changes/problems 1 and 2 above might introduce to the factory program.
So, what have you done to your ride recently? And are you happy with it, unhappy, meh, other?
Thanks,
Greg

2004 6spd here. I have greddy catback, CAI, Intake Spacers, NWP big throttle body, racingline y-pipe and racingline pre cats. I did gain better gas mileage but trust me when i say man dont waste your time upgrading this car. I really regret it. I wish i had just gone out and bought a g35 or something. You'll probably be pushing 270whp max with all the upgrades you can buy without going FI. The bit of extra pull was different and kinda fun at first, but im sitting in a postition now where it still isnt nearly fast enough to be that much fun
Thanks for the reply. I will take that under advisement. I also just found out that it's gonna be about $1500 to fix my AC, so that is going to put a dent in my "fun" money for upgrades. I may just settle for an axle back exhaust upgrade to change the exhaust note a little.
Any recs on mufflers that can help me get a little rumble out of the V6 without making it sound like a chainsaw or one of those little 4-banger tuners with a fart can on the back?
Thanks,
Greg

The only exhaust I can say I specifically know on a VQ is the GReddy catback I have on mine. It does sound really sick, I love the sound of it. But I believe GReddy doesnt make it anymore
