Hard starting, won't rev, and slams into gear

This all started a few hours ago.

Car was running fine when I went into the grocery store, but when I came out the car was hard to start, and when I put it in gear, it was slow to react, almost as if the tranny was slipping and it wouldn't rev up.

Pulled over and shut the car off, went to restart it and the same thing happened. Thought I would try and shift the tranny manually by moving the shifter lever over, and it went bang. It wouldn't go into a lower gear no matter what I tried but when I put it back in D, bang again. There were no abnormal noises coming from the car besides the bang from the tranny.

Took my chances driving it home when I noticed the SES, Slip, and TCS Off lights were on.

Any help/suggestions are appreciated. I've had this car since January 2010 with no problems of this sort.

Thanks

It's in Limp safe mode. Pull the code. One of the culprits can be cam position sensor or something you need to fix ASAP.
