p0744

I recently bought an 06 maxima with 125,000 miles. It had the transmission rebuilt about 15k ago. Within the first 200 miles the check engine light came on and when I put my scanner on it p0744 showed up, which is Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Intermittent, it also puts the car into limp or safe mode when the light comes on. That's the only code and it seems to shift and perform normally until the cel comes back on. When you clear the code you can drive it with no problems for 200 miles or more. When I research this I see a multitude of possible fixes but I'm not sure what the best course of action is at this point. Any ideas?

No advice or ideas? One more thing I might add is the code for the transmission on the identification sticker on the drivers side door jam shows the transmission code as RS5F51A, from what I can tell that is a code for a manual transmission, is that the case?

This stumps me. I know a few guys that that rebuilt the tranny and never had this happen. Google it to death or your only alternative may be to find a Nissan Tech that may know.

Yeah I called Nissan and when I tell them the identification code for the transmission they act like I'm speaking another language. I have a tendency to think it's a RE5F22A but it would be nice to have someone verify it for me.

So your transmission should be RE5F22A.
As for the code, you just might as well be preparing for a new valve body.

That's the transmission I figured I had, thanks for confirmation. As for the valve body can I get by with one of the transgo or a similar kit as opposed to a "new" valve body?
