I have an 04 6spd And the transmission is on its way out. I brought it to a shop so that they could order a used replacement, but after a day of searching they said they found a few but none that matched my vin #. So I asked them if any from the same year would work and they said they weren't sure. Apparently mine is rare. I should add that this is a reputable transmission shop.

That said, are all the 6th gen 6spd trannies interchangeable? Irrespective of locking or non locking. And is it too risky to just order one and give it a shot? My tranny still works for now but sounds like a bulldozer.

Called courtesy parts to get their thoughts and they said there were only 2 manual transmissions made for the 04 and 05(LSD and non locking), manufactured between January 03 to August 05. After that they changed for the 06 model.
