Engine upgrade 05

I have a 05 Nissan Maxima overheated because the fans were not working engine still run but burning oil cheaper to replace engine than rebuild but I wanted to find out if another upgrade engine for the Maxima or what can I do to upgrade instead of just getting the same engine again. I want to up a little better than stock engine but wanted to be affordable.

If this is a daily driver, trade it in for a lower mileage newer car with a warrantee. You're effort to "save money" on a replacement motor could land you into a world of ongoing trouble if you're not the skilled laborer doing the work. What I mean is, you get a used low mileage motor, get maybe a 90 day warrantee. Shop that puts it in gives you 60 day warrantee, after all it took a couple weeks to a month to get it and put it in. Something malfunctions outside the warrantee on the work and motor, you're back in the same place spending money trying to fix a 13 year old high mileage car. This would be different again, if it was you doing the work and you were very knowledgeable, then of course you would be saving money by keeping the car on the road.

Also to note, the bluebook of your car is likely worth less then the total cost of putting a new motor into it. Say you're car has a value in running condition of about $2500, of course now it's running poorly, so that drops to $1500 quick. Say you find a shop to put in the motor, out the door $2200. You're still driving a car with maybe a $2500 bluebook value.

Hi, I would suggest a 09 up maxima motor or 08 up Altima 3.5 motor. The engine has HR heads and the DE bottom end. A little more HP minimal if any oil burning issues like out DEs.

No you need a 09 up Maxima motor or an 08 up Altima 3.5. You will need a few extra parts Nisformance.com sells the swap kit.

And for $3800 the value of your car will increase by about $60 to $700 tradin. or you could scrap the car, and start over. That is still my recommendation.
