What relay triggers alternator output?
Anyone know what relay or circuit triggers the output of the Alternator? Car resides outside. On cold mornings (teens), the car starts but the alternator does not charge the system. Once the sun hits the car (30s-40s), the car again starts fine and I am able to measure 14+ volts at the battery. 2008 Maxima.

Never mind...I was finally able to get the two-pin connector off of the Alternator. With the Ignition ON, there IS 12v at one of the pins, so that answers my question...I'm guessing that when the car is cold I'm not getting a good connection at one or both of the brushes, but as the car warms up the spring is able to push it down a little tighter. Since it's a 2008 with the original alternator (had the car since new) I'm betting the brushes are pretty well worn anyway, so I'll go ahead and replace it....
