I have a 2006 Maxima. The headlights are intermittent. When I first start up the right side will not come on. I have to turn them off and on several times for it to finally come on; and when it does it seems like a slow ignition process going from dim to normal. Once its on, its on no flickering or anything over ruff roads.

Please point me in the right direction,

 

hid headlight ballast. its a silver box under the headlight assembly, ya have to remove the whole assembly and there not cheap from nissan

 

Cheap on ebay though. Consider also the ignitor, which is apparently sold as an assembly with the ballast, unlike 5th gen.

yea. I ended up swapping halogen assemblies to mine. I'm actually happier
