Stereo mysteriously switching to iPod automatically

For a few weeks now, it seems that many times when I start the car, the stereo will automatically switch to the iPod after about 10 seconds. I usually leave it tuned to XM and am sure I don't touch any buttons after starting up. It just plays XM for a few seconds then switches over to iPod... so weird. It's done this at least a dozen times.

Anyone else have this happen or know what to check? Again, I don't push any buttons myself and have checked the iPod connections and ensured they were good and that nothing was pressing any of the iPod buttons either.

It isn't something that happens all the time so I haven't taken it to the dealer quite yet.

Hey,

I was having the same thing happen to me for a while. However, I realized what was happening. When you turn off your car, after awhile your iPod will shutoff too as it would if you just put it down after using it. When you start the car again, your iPod is automatically turned on through the connection. But as you know when you turn on your iPod it takes a few second to actually turn on as it is loading. Once it is finally on, the car recognizes it as being hooked up and therefore switches. It is annoying I agree but there is nopthing wrong with your car, the connection, or your iPod.

Wow, that totally makes sense. Sounds like we're stuck with that behavior. I've never seen anything in settings that would allow us to turn off the auto-switching mechanism. At least I feel better that I'm not going crazy or something... thanks a bunch!

Glad you solved the problem. I just unplugged my Ipod.
But yeah mine did it numerous times also and I had no idea why.
Thanks
