Can this be used with an aftermarket catback as well or would this be INCLUDED with a catback system?

Looks good.

Right now they have free shipping at the y-pipe is $279 instead of $285 which isnt that much but its something.

I'll see what I can do for everyone maybe they will give us a deal.

My question is, does it work ? Any Dyno sheets ? I would hate to put it on and see the cars performance be hindered (which can happen when changing the exhaust profile... loss of gas velocity). I don't think it should because it eliminates a cat and doesn't affect the diameter of the entire exhaust which could slow it down... i'm hoping 13 whp !

I'm not positive but I think a cat-back would include the B-pipe and rear muffler sections. It would not include the y-pipe. The stock one has the extra cat in it, so it is my understanding that a cat-back would mean the end of the y-pipe back. That being said, this piece would be essential to get rid of that restrictive stock y-pipe. And since this y-pipe replaces the stock unit, it should be fully compatible with any aftermarket cat-back system. Just my $0.02.

actually its' on for $275.99 (reg 289.99) + free shipping + total savings of roughly $40

As for the Dyno, it's technically not possible. The Maxima is CVT, and as most of you know a CVT car cannot be dynoed with any degree of consistency. HOWEVER the pipe has been fitted to the new Altima which does come in a manual and saw gains of near 14hp to the front wheels. The butt dyno on our test Maxima confirms that there is a very noticeable gain in acceleration, especially at freeway speeds where the torque management is not interfering.

True, can't really dyno a CVT... but you can take the car to the track!
Before and after ~ 13hp WHP should give you consistent lower times vs. stock. Maybe 1. ~ .2 lower... on average.

If we could hold it in 3rd gear on the dyno the ratio is 1.11...

the sound will increase very slightly and will take on a slightly deeper tone. The actual sound increase is very minor and a little more 350Z/G35 sounding

Just thought I'd mention that the Altima & new Maxima have different Generation of VQ engines.

what is the compression ratio on the VQ in the 09 Maxima ? 10.6:1 or 10.3:1 ? Anyway, i would love to have that 350z/G35 sounds... i really loved the sound of my G! If the Y Pipe can do that, and it should help the Maxima really because in D Mode after 30, it's all top end but really it is.. just hangs + 6200rpm... so that Y Pipe should help!

Right on! Hey, go take your car to the track or something and time it now! Get an average and make not of the conditions ! Try to keep it all constant. Then install the y-pipe and see if there is a difference in the overall average! 13 WHP which is about what 18 HP (don't know the loss through a CVT) should give you a noticable gain!

HTML Code:
(don't know the loss through a CVT)
That's one of the main thing with these Mods and the CVT is that we just don't know what the Loss is coming from the Mod to drivetrain/CVT.

Has anyone been able to figure out what is normal loss between the Engine to the CVT?

Seeing that the CVT isn't like a normal automatic, one would expect that there isn't as big of a loss sense the CVT seems to pick up the slightest touch of the pedal and that it stays in the top range as long as you stand on the pedal.

It DOES remove one cat as previously stated.

As long as the drone isn't bad, I think this would make a fine addition to a catback/CAI setup.

Fujita's releasing their CAI very soon and Corsa is deveoping a VERY nice catback for these cars as well.

00-03 Does not remove precats, which is the reason Racingline has not made one for your application. ALL 04-08 & 09+ have one of 3 cats deleted. Please research your "facts" before posting an assumption

I'm not too fond of cats myself, the less the better ! Green House Gas ? never heard of it This should go well with the Bully Dog if they remove the WOT thinger and raise the rpm's to 7100... higher rpm will benifit from this Y-Pipe. And the car in D mode is always above 6000 rpm so i think you would see a noticable gain!
