Thumbs down Yet another problem

I noticed a pretty terrible gap today between the bottom of my drivers side headlight and the bumper. I will post two passenger side pictures of the gap first then two driver side (problem side) pictures of the gap. Tell me if you notice and also let me know if yours has the same thing.

i dont have this, but i did notice the fender that goes along the side of the light seems like its "loose". almost like if you push it in it moves. who knows...... is this something the dealer would fix for you, or just some weird body flaw?

I don't see that on my maxima but I do have the problem with my 08 qx56 and a warning, usually when there is a gap it will cause a slight opening in the headlight that will let in condensation or Perspiration and before you know it your headlights will be foggy. Hope it doesn't happen but keep an eye on it.

I didnt notice that on my max before it got hit but after I had the bumper replaced and I checked everything out I have it as well after a new bumper and everthing was put on. I was told it is normal as there are only a select few amount of bolts actually holding your bumper in place. If you grab the middle of your bumper and pull up the whole thing will move up.

could it be a possibilty your car got hit from when the dealer had it?, Trust me my friend use to work at a dealer and all the things that go on its a shame. I remember when my altima got hit in the front, the bumper and the lights never lined up perfectly again, I didnt have a huge gap like that but you could tell the bumper wasnt lining up

I am debating on whether or not to bring it to the dealer. With zero evidence of any kind of front end collision they will still seem to point the finger at me and give me a huge hassle about it. I am having the same problem with my paint right now.

I didn't think about that but yes I will now keep an eye out for that. Thanks!

That would seem to be the reason for the gap but in my mind it still doesn't make sense. I have grab the bumper and moved it at will but shouldn't it still return to the original position with no gaps? Know what I mean?

I suppose anything is possible with my joke of a dealership but as I stated above there is no evidence of any kind of front end colision. The bumper is mint. I also highly doubt they would go to the trouble to fix and repaint any kind of scratches being that they were unable to fix my horrible paint.

I have the same thing on mine. I never thought it was a problem. It looks exactly the same as yours, where you can see a little bit of that ribbed cable (?). But the rest of the bumper seems to line up at the seams so I think it's fine.

if mulitple people have this problem then i guess its a flaw from nissan, Nissan gotta step it up alittle now, their quality in building automobiles is getting worse with every car they come out with.

So far it's just a couple of us. Anybody else have the same problem?

No sign of this on my '09, which was assembled the first week of October. I had to take a flashlight and peer very closely into the joint to even catch a glimpse of that little ribbed thing. It seems a little surprising that cars coming down the same assembly line (and ALL '09 Maximas DO come down the same line) would vary in this manner.

That is bad news indeed. Did you happen to notice if the VIN serial numbers of the good cars were earlier, later, or interleaved with the serial numbers of the bad cars?

Yeah had to get my bumper replaced, and I questioned my repair guy. He said the bumper is only held in place by two bolts from the top or side. He actually pushed on the bumper and if he pushed any harder it looked like it would have fell off. I guess Nissan didn't learn from '02 '03 model years. Let someone attempt to steal my headlights i will sue the sh&* out of nissan. Maybe they know its a issue but there are not enough people who have the issue for them to do a recall. Its really sad on nissan's part to have a work of art that is looking a bit flawed

Unfortunately, this is most likely a case of a 1st generation re-model... doesn't help that it's being built in the US either...

Same deal with the '04...
