Parking up an incline (drive way) works pretty well for me.

Try after drying your car to take it on a blow dry run. I like to get up to 60+mph. Then go back a wipe down where water got onto the paint and windows and your done. Completely dry!

I agree, this is annoying as hell. I spend an hour hand washing and DRYING(for you Marc NYC) and it still drips out. Lately I have started to park on an incline and it does seem to help but not completely. I think evaporation is the only way to get all of it!

Yep does it on mine as well. I just dry the car, drive the mile or so home, and then dry off the "sneaky drips". Happens around the trunk lid, tail lights, and rear lic. plates. as well.

Who would of thought that water gets into crevices during a wash. Better yet, it even manages to escape when the car is in motion! The audacity!

Yeah, it's annoying that you have it all nice and dry then come back and see those mystery water streaks. I've gone back out after a car wash and wiped those areas down 2 and 3 times even. Happened on every car I've ever owned tho so I expect it. Amazing all the hidden crevices that hold water. I've taken to giving it a short run around the neighborhood to shift that hidden water, but there's always some that'll get you. Damp chamois always fixes it right up tho.

I do not see any mention of you drying the car. Nevertheless, this has occured on every car I have ever owned.

For those of you who said "park on incline"...do you wash your car, then drive really slowly and park on the nearest incline and watch your car dry? Thats a little OCD!!!

it goes to show that common sense is not that common. if im talking about streaks on the door.. obvious if the car wasn't dry there would be no reason to be annoyed by streaks. come on people where are the deductive thinking skills? seriously.. but i guess that's why you won the award out of the many nominees.

I'll be the first to admit I am a little OCD. I was taught if you do something it should be done right the first time. I wash my car by hand at least once a week in my gargae and then back it out onto my driveway which is on an incline. So yes I dry it twice, sometimes three times and my neighbors always tease me that I am going to wash the paint off of the car.

OCD? Call it what you wish. I call it taking pride in my work and taking pride in ownership. It's one of those things I try to teach my daughter. If a job is worth doing, it's worth doing right.

Agreed. My wife is always bothering me about the time I spend on my car. I find washing my car to be a stress reliever.

Not exactly on thread, but after driving even short distances on a barely wet road, the door jambs and sills inside all four doors are absolutely filthy, and also wet. I suppose the white paint makes this more noticable, but I have never had this problem before in 60 years of driving.

liypfhe1...I am obviously kidding with you!!! Obviously you are drying the car after you wash via car wash or hand wash.

Being bothered about water dripping out of the mirrors is like complaining the car gets dirty when you drive it!

I would assume your best bet, its to take a shammy and wipe the streaks off the side of the doors after you drive.

from one smart @$$ to another,i know u are kidding. im no taking ur comments to heart in anyway. i just the water dripping on the side of the car because i never noticed it on any of my other cars. i was just thinking maybe it should have been taken into consideration when they designed the car as far as all the areas that would retain water and leak once the car was dried.

To dry the outside mirrors you take a piece of paper towel and fold it in half and stick it under the mirror push it all the way into the housing to soak up the water, move it side to side to get all of the water. You can let the paper towel sit in there while you dry the rest of the car.

I wash my car on an inclined garage driveway and also use a leaf blower to initially dry the car (and blow out the water from the mirrors and wheels).

By the way (for those of you talking about washing your cars a lot), how many of you wash it at night? I never have enough time during the day and since it's getting dark so early nowadays, most times I end up washing late in the evening. I just put a 500W spotlight on top of a garbage can and wash whatever side I have lit up at the time. Then I pull it in to the garage to dry off the windows.

I have noticed the same problem and maybe thought of a fix but I am 1200 miles from my Max and will not be back home for about three weeks or so. How about installing some of the stick-on weatherstripping on the under side of the door to prevent dirt, water, etc. from getting in. It probably would not be noticed at all and just might work. Maybe Mr. lightonthehill could do a little research on this for us (hint-hint)

I tried that, a slightest breeze pulls the paper towel right back out and tosses it on the ground for you.

I always keep lots of baling wire and duct tape on hand, but this problem may require something a little more advanced. I wouldn't want to install anything that would slow proper drainage of any water that may be in the jamb area. But I'll look at weatherstripping, etc.

I've tried something similar, but I use a credit card (or something of that size) and use it to guide my drying towel into the housing. You can usually get it in pretty far.

However, like a few people have said...sometimes you just have to drive it around to get the water out completely and then just wipe it off. I like to keep a microfiber towel and quick detail spray in the car when it happens. It is also handy to keep around when rogue birds are flying overhead waiting to use your nice, clean Maxima as moving target practice.

2young - I haven't forgotten this. I have been very busy, but have been looking at this door seal problem. First thing I found was that Nissan had tried to solve this very problem by installing a rubber flap across the entire bottom of all four doors. When this did not work, they gave up. I do have a few ideas. Will continue to look at this.

I'm still on the road, driving the Blue Ridge Parkway with the wife in our Murano so I have not been able to look into it either. But you are correct about the rubber flap across the entire bottom of all four doors as that is what is on the Murano. It seems to work better than nothing.
