5th gen ipod nano

does anyone know if there is a fix or update of some sort, to get enable the new ipods to charge while plugged in via ipod interface cable? I remember someone posting that it charged theirs, but it doesn't work for me, it says "charging not supported" but it did charge my old 2nd gen ipod.
