Music box question
I picked up my car on Saturday:
White SV with Premium / Tech package
I'm learning the features, and one by one am able to get things to work.
I have a question that I have not been able to get answered yet.
There is an option under audio for displaying cover art.
When playing CD's, I have not seen any cover art.
I saw a link for Gracenote and followed the directions hoping this would add the cover art into the Music Box. It didn't.
So, my question is how to get cover art? Is it only for Ipod? My wife had cover art on her Ipod, and I saw a small thumbnail....
Any way to get it on other sources?
Thanks,
Jack

Anyone know where the actual hard drive is located? Is it attached directly to the stereo? If I knew where it was I would be tempted to find a way to detatch, upgrade, or at least manually load all my music through a PC...
I aplogize if I missed this answer somewhere in this thread. Does anyone know what kind of storage the music box actually is? Is it solid state? Or is it an actual spinning-platter-based hard drive? Just curious really....thinking about longevity. Thanks!
At 9.3 GB, and holding up to 2900 songs, I would hazard a guess that this might be too much for a spinning platter. But then, although I am certified to do home electrical wiring, I am very ignorant when it comes to automotive electronics. Maybe we need an automotive expert to help us out here.
I put it on auto record. Once inserted it starts to record. If I then swith to another source, it continues to record. Records at a fast rate sow only takes a few minutes and you can start another disc.
This is a question I would like to know as I just got a 2011 Maxima yesterday and since there was none that I wanted with NAV, I settled on the one without NAV but had everything EXCEPT the 9GB Music Box which had the 2GB version is lieu of it. Is it possible for us to replace the hard drive with a larger hard drive, like the 9GB hard drive that comes with the tech package? Anyone done this yet??
Not to sound stupid but I just got my 13 max with premium and tech pack. I cannot figure out how to access my music box or if I even have one I have tried a few different cds both burned cds and stores bought cds I never see the record button. How do I do this, looked through the manual and on this site. Please help thanks

I read somewhere that Nissan wasn't able to renegotiate with the manufacturer and thus it is no more. I liked it on my Max and was quite disappointed the 2013 pathfinder didn't come with it.
Of course, I also have a 32gig thumb drive that remains in the usb port and that works great too, just takes a few seconds longer to boot up when starting the car. Maybe one day I'll graduate to a smart phone and stream it!

I am new to this forum (any forum) and not sure how this works but I 'm hoping someone can help me record CDs to Music Box. I was able to record Cds just fine in my '09 Max (purchased 5 months ago) but now I cannot. These are store bought CDs and not burned ones. The record button does nothing when I press it and it is no longer a light blue color like it is no longer an option. I even set it up to automatically record when a CD is entered and still nothing. Music Box has 9gb so can't be full with only 3 CDs recorded. I think it has to do with the Repeat/ Random button which is always on and shouldn't be. When I press it, it just cycles through Disc Repeat and Track Repeat and won't disappear from the screen or turn off. Other than this problem, I looooove my Max and just want to use my music box. Any suggestions?

Its defiantly not too much for a spinning platter. Platters can hold over 1000GB. But if the Maxima had spinning platters the music boxes would of been failing. Spinning platters (normal hard drives) wont last long on a bumpy roadway even expensive enterprise class drives.
Solid state disks are too expensive to be in these cars(especially considering @09 prices there were too expensive to be in most computers)- would be overkill for 9GB. Most likely its not an actual hard drive but a chip like a Samsung chip you would find in your iphone or thumb drive. That chip is probably in the head unit. Might be a small mp3 player in there who knows.....
Bluetooth streaming is working out good for me. It always connects once I cut the car on and plays the music. Plus I have my phone set up to synchronize via wifi to my PC so I dont really have to worry about that.
