Smoked tail lights!

well kinda ... actually just smoked the clear markers in the back, which definitely set the car off right. I got bored with seeing the same smoked tail light with clear reverse/signal lights so I did it my way. Used two layers of 3M head/tail light tint and custom made my own template to make sure the pieces were cut the right size. I love the contrast between the red and white and it is gonna look mean as hell when the matte black 20 inch giovannas come in later this week

... low quality from my phone

after

Wow they definitely look nice. Now de-badge, black out the chrome above the rear plate and get a nice black roof overlay.

Looks good.

Yeah, you need to put your spoiler.

You did a good job with the film. Most guys prefer painting. I would like something like that. So that I can take it off when I get tired of that smoke look.

Nice. I did the opposite, i got them painted by my friends tint shop. went with a really light just on the red to keep that oem look, but still have it go nice with the Super Black paint. this is also before and after the Eibach drop, now that i noticed.

looks great! yeah I just wanted something a little different, and I had my aftermarket lights on my denali sprayed which look great but this was simple and ended up working great ... and I definitely have to look into those eibach springs the car sits perfect

The tint is just the normal dark % 3M, but it wasn't dark enough when I applied it so it's actually 2 layers on each light, but the fit is seamless. As far as cost, I got the tint from a local shop and the guy cut me plenty material from the roll for about $15 and I did the work myself and it took about an hour.

Haha you like that idea of blacking out the piece over the license plate.

I bought enough material fully do the tails and headlights, which it's legal out here in vegas, but when I go back to school in San Diego next week I will definitely get pulled over due to cali's retarded laws so I had to pass up that mod and not risk the ticket

@KMoney: I'm probably not gonna do the headlights man, I don't really dig the look and cops out here in California are fast to pull you over for any minor reason, I'm on my second tint ticket in my 7th Gen!

haha that's so funny, I hadn't seen it done or heard about anyone having the same idea, but I definitely think it's a hot look! Just wait till the matte black 20s get put on to contrast it, they are sitting in my garage and I'm hoping tomorrow will be the day!!!!

What type of tint is used

Is the tail light tint different than regular window tint?

i believe so, in my case yes. Its more like an overlay, it streches more unlike regular tint when putting it on the tailights

I believe 3M makes different color overlays that work with most head and tail lights as well. I've always been a fan of smoked looking lenses, especially when the color red in tails is changed closer to a burgundy color. Looks great OP.

it depends on the application, mine was easier to use the film, if you wanted to do the red black and leave the clear I would go with spray
