2010 Maxima S sound system

Hey can anyone out there tell me what they think of the S model's
non-bose sound system, is there a big difference between this system and the bose?

I got the opportunity to listen to both and I preferred the Bose system myself. I use the iPod mostly, but CDs also sound brilliant with the Bose. The front soundstage took a while to get used to, but some members tweaked the fade to the rear to get a quadrophonic sound. I kept mine at the default setting and it's awesome. The bass coming from the rear thumps throughout the car. However, judging a sound system is very subjective and you have to go for what sounds good to your ear. I have already done the whole custom system with trunk tubes and amplifiers. Now I just prefer a good sounding stock system.

The Bose leaves me more than satisfied.

Well, to tell you the truth, I love a system with good bass, does the Nissan sound system have decent base or what?

IMHO, it's got more than enough base. It's enough to sound GREAT and yet not so much that it rattles your neighbor's windows...

I think it hits pretty hard and crisply for stock.

Nissan sound system has decent Bass, but the Bose is outstanding. Again, it's a matter of taste. I would advise you listen to both if you get the opportunity.

Im afraid if I listen to both im gonna have to get the bose, lol. I heard the bose system in my friends g37 coupe and it was ridiculous, I thought his windows were going to break, and I loved it so, I need to know if it is worth upgrading from an S to an SV.

If you liked how your friends g37 bose system sounds, then you're probably better off getting the SV. IMO, the standard sound system in the S is ok...nothing special. It thumps a little once you turn it up pass 16 or so and the sound doesn't get distorted, but def not enough to start shaking any windows. The bose in my '03 max hits harder. I'm waiting to see if the 2011 Max will have any changes and will probably trade-in for a SV. For the price difference between the S and SV, you get a lot of added benefits.

Yea, Its probably the best choice to just get the SV, Ill jus save a little more money between now and the summer, Why didnt you just get the SV from the get-go?

The Bose system in the Max is great for the front passengers but not too great for the rear passengers. Nissan doesn't have to change the entire system, I think it would just benefit to switch the set-up in the rear so that the Bass is on the rear doors and the audio/sound up in the rear window housing so that its closer to rear passengers heads so they can hear it. The current rear set-up causes the music to sound far and distant if your sitting in the rear of the car. The set-up for the front occupants is great the way it is. Just my two cents!
