Outside Buzzer Question
Outside Buzzer Question
I just installed my HID fogs and now when I hit the door lock/unlock button on the door handles the buzzer doesn't beep at me anymore. Is there a setting that I can change that controls the beep? I really miss the beeping.
No, not the horn. The beep from the outside buzzer. I hooked the wiring harness to my battery and a couple of the settings changed for some reason, I just can't find that setting.
I think he is talking about the audible alert (1 chirps for unlock of the door and 2 for locked.) From what I can tell it is the same one that lets you know you've left your keys in the car when you try to lock it.
Even though it is what the manual refers to it as everytime I read "buzzer" I think of a game show buzzer. Ha.
Anyway I looked it up and didn't find anything directly being an option to turn the buzzer on or off.
1)Do you notice anything else not working or different?
2) can you still walk up and lock/unlock your doors with the push button on the handle?
3) when you open the trunk with the push button on the trunk does it not make the sound either?
4) when you lock/unlock the doors with the key fob button does the horn beep?
5)when the car is on and you step away with they key in your pocket does the buzzer sound to notify "no key"?
6) (not that you needed to but) did you unhook the battery when you installedthe HIDs?
7) did anything go wrong when installing the HIDs like a momentary grounding?
8) is you second key somewhere inside the car? Can you start the car without the key around?
9) I wouldn't think the fuse was dedicated soley to the buzzer chime that's why I was wondering if somthing else wasn't working or had changed but I'd check the fuses.
If nothing works your dealer should take care of it for free being a new car. I would just investigate before hand to save a trip to the dealer. Keep us posted and let us know what you find.
The reason I asked about the windows is because if you disconnect your battery the auto up function stops working. The auto down is still functional but the up won't work untill you go through a couple of steps to get it functioning again. Weird.

This is par for the course for me, everytime I get into something it causes another issue. The only other thing I can think of is maybe I knocked a wire loose while I was running my relay wire from the battery down to the fogs. If I knew where the buzzer was I could make sure it was still connected.

Yesterday I did leave the key in the car and try to lock the doors and the outside chime did work. Strangely the chime still won't work with the door lock / unlock button. I guess I'll have the dealer check it out when I go back for my last free oil change. I'm stumped.

Here is what I found out. If you disable the lock/unlock horn activation the sound that is also used when the door is unlocked/locked from the outside door button is also disabled. You have the option to sound or no sound but you cannot bypass unless you disconnect your horn only of course. Hope it helps.

edit: reread your post... were you referring to the auto up via switch or from the FOB?

Auto up on the door panel switch. The FOB only has auto down (I wish it had auto up).
I don't think the S has auto windows besides the FOB feature.
Anyways if you disconnect the battery and find that the auto up feature no longer works (auto down should still work) just have the car in the on position but the car not running and hold the window button till the windows roll all the way down then pull the switch to put them back up and keep holding the switch for like 5-10 secs after the windows have been rolled up all the way and it should put the auto up feature back.

I'll have to check out that link when I get to a computer. The stupid iPhone doesn't have flash and I can't view that site from here. What is it??
Wow I will check that out as soon as I'm on a real computer.(iPhone needs flash!) I don't know why Nissan didn't want to give the feature to roll up from the FOB to begin with. Does anybody know if the premium rolls all four windows down with the fob since all or their windows at automatic or is it still just the front two?
