What to do???

ok..my new rim has a little scuff in it from an elderly lady hitting me. Fine her insurance is going to pay for a new wheel. I bought these 2 months ago from Discount Tire. Well turns out the wheel is now discontinued and none is stock. What would you guys do?
1. just get the wheel refurbished if it can be?
2. ask for her insurance to buy 4 new wheel of equal value?

try option 2 and if that fails have them do option 1 if possible or they came cut u a check for the price you paid for the rim and u can fix or ignore the scuff

I'm thinking: get it fixed and pocket the other $175 to put towards a new blacked out grill)

I'd push for the four. It's not your fault this happened and it's tuff luck on their part they can't just replace the one. I'd argue and argue till you got what you think was fair. Go for the four

Well depending on how bad the wheel got damaged I would ask for 2 new tires and all 4 wheels. If the tire got damaged it could develop a bubble or just fail. Also remember you didn't ask for any dmg to your vehicle and you were not at fault.

The wheel that got damaged has a "little scuff".... they are willing to pay for an entire new wheel (which Im guessing by "little scuff" will easily pay for a top end refinishing job).

Asking for 4 new wheels in this scenario seems over the top.

After market wheels are a risk. They arent inherently insured. If you had $10k worth of engine mods in your vehicle and the car got stolen, your insurance company wouldnt reimburse there either.

(just my thoughts/opinion)

Insurance puts you back to where you were before the accident. 3 wheels are fine, 1 is not. If discontinued, insurance deos not care. They just need to determine if they will pay for the damaged wheel amd cut you a check. So, for sure, they will pay for only the damaged wheel. So, I know asking for the 4 would not work for sure.

So, best to do what you said in post #3. Goodluck.

I have a feeling insurance won't go for it. In my 300zx I got pushed into a curb by another car. I fought tooth and nail but only ended up getting the two damaged 5Zigen FN01R-Cs replaced. That might just be my company though.

Contact the wheel manufacture, they might still have rims in stock or can locate one if you want to replace the wheel.

That's actually a decent idea.

Beyond that, pocket the money, and buff out the scuff. It's you're best bet...

Got the car back. The referb was crap. The wheel is "dull" compared to the three others and you can see material under the protective coating. I will say you can't tell where the damage was. I happen to call Discount Tire again and ask about my wheel. Holy **** they are in stock. The big dummy that helped me the first time...well was a big dummy. Have the new wheel on order at the collision co cost of $225.00. Should be back to new by next week. JP
