I was checking the underneath of my car to make sure everything was looking normal only to discover how dirty the side panels were underneath. I also looked at the front & rear bumper assemblies. They were dirty but not as bad as the sides. I didn't realize how far the plastic assemblies went underneath the car. I started thinking that leaving the areas as they were may cause some paint peeling issues in the long run. I ended up cleaning them, then polishing & waxing. Although they look like new again, it gives me piece of mind that those areas have some kind of protection on them now. I now include cleaning those areas when I wash & wax the car even though you can't really see them.

Now I'll need to check and see if my normal detailing has been effective in those areas. I'm obsessed with keeping everything as clean as a showcar. Glad to see there are others with the same affliction

My Max is white too, so shoe scuffmarks have been an issue. I'll be installing some "Xpel R3022 60" x 2.75" Clear Door Sill Protection Film this weekend to see if that helps. (it's available at Amazon)

I keep the plastic covers protected as well. Just looks a lot nicer. Check your underneath panels when you get a chance and see how they are.

Yes I do! All the wheel wells,door jams,trunk,hood etc. I have always done this to all my cars and people are always amazed when they open the hood of my car and find no dust and on my Honda jaws drop because most cars with 174k miles look horrible.

Yeah, I keep the engine bay as clean as possible looking as well. You never know who might want to look at the beauty of an engine or want to see the Stillen strut brace.

 

So - what is your method of cleaning the fuzzy rear wheel wells - have been trying to find a way to deal with these since I had my 2004 SE - now that I have the new '10 SV I find that it has the same issue - any ideas greatly appreciated!

 

fuzzy? as in where there is an undercoating? I guess that could be fuzzy

For the wheel wells, I just spray tire shine up in there and let the car sit for a while to dry as I don't want wind picking up "shine" and spraying it elsewhere.
