Rear Seat Entertainment..

So I just got my Maxima and I like to do a couple things, one would be I like to have DVD in motion, and two I like to do some rear seat entertainment for the kids. And ofcourse I am sure I will snowball in upgrades I like to do the car with time knowing myself (rims, suspension, body kit, brakes, and etc).

Lets talks about my first need .. 1 DVD in motion. I have read that I can get the KP NI35 unit for $99 bucks that allows you to disable the VSS wire by conveniently pushing the enter button for a programmed period, however in my vehicle I also need to ground the brake signal. So my question is what have you guys been doing? I have been thinking of maybe making a small circuit that has 3 positions 1. Everything normal 2. VSS disabled (allowing to futz with the navigation/i Pod/etc 3. VSS disabled and brake signal grounded. For some reason I really don't like the idea of just have two switches this vehicle is so well loaded with technology I like to do the most efficient way.

2nd need rear seat entertainment. I been looking but I am not sure anyone is doing any head rests or add on screens, or a center pop up. I am thinking of maybe getting a pair of Vizual Logic or some Audiovox and also purchasing the FLO TV and having that feed into the headrest and maybe the front screen for passenger use. One the things I was thinking about if there was a way to get a video feed out from the factory DVD player in the car? I am kind of looking for ideas and implementation results. One thing I kind of wanting but not sure yet how to accomplish is to have the kids 1 stop destroying DVDs (throwing them around and etc) and 2) just having them stop taking up space, was thinking of maybe either getting an MP3 with all there DVDs on it (I have to dump them may take some time but would be worth it) or getting some headrests that have some kind of SD card or memory card. I maybe complicating this but I like to start doing some road trips and I want everyone in the car to be calm and watching something so when I am not driving I can watch a movie too :-)

Pics, suggestions, and feedback would be all appreciated.

DVD headrests may be too tempting for break-ins - they could be easy to steal.

A laptop with a DVD drive might be an economical alternative. There are hanging holders available for them so they can easily be viewed.

My last minivan had a built-in DVD system. In 5 years it was only used on 3 trips.

I got kids 7,5,3, and 8months. DVD are a godsend to keep them quiet :-) Stealing DVD headrests is not an easy thing and that is why I got insurance. I really like to see some installs please.

I can be wrong, but i don't think insurance is going to replace your tv if its taken by car thieves, they just replace ya window. I want to get tvs too, but i been debating if i should. Its rear you see any in cars, if you do and its for the kids, I usually see the strap on ones. They is also 1 that lathes on the metal bar on the head rest and stretches out between driver and passenger seat, which would be 1 monitor.

Where those added to the stock headrest or are they replacement headrests? If replacement do they match the seat color exactly?

I have been looking into this for sometime but seems that the ones with truly matching headrests with the matching piping are like $1300 or so.

these are replacement headrest and it match the seat color perfectly because my seat color is black. the colors they have for the headrest are black, beige, and grey. as for the matching piping, it came with two extra piping and one of them was exact fit.

Sorry I meant stitching on the headrest. The stock black seats have a redish stitching.

i just checked and it doesn't have the reddish stitching on them but it doesn't bother me because i never realized the black seat has red stitching on them. the color is exact but without the reddish stitching

it took me almost 45min to install one headrest because of less space to pass the wires inside the seat. i had to use metal straight hanger and tape the wires on it to be able to get the wires through the seat. As of where to purchased these, i got mine from http://www.onfair.com

I was poking around http://www.xtrons.com/doce/Products.aspx?cid=16

And saw that HD903 is the new model but the support section listed the HD902 .. There was no users manual available online. I also noticed that most people are not listing the brand but are actually selling on Ebay the HD902 and the HD903 I am thinking that is some product liquidation going on.

And to confuse things even more they got a 901 that looks similar to the 903 .. So I am just kind of wondering about which ones you got. Because I am probably going to order 2 sets of them as they seem to be a great deal and also like priced product.

Here is the support link I found.. So basically I just was wondering what you have and etc. One of the things I like to take advantage is getting a few SSD cards and putting different shows. DVDs take up to much space and are way to easy to break.

well u can install it yourself but its a pain to do because the way our seat was made didnt have enough free space to just pass the wires inside so you will need to first use a straight metal rod first to make it come through the seat and then tape the wire on the rod and do the same thing and eventually, you will feel the wires under the seat and checkmate.. you done and use zip tie to secure the wires under the seat .
i choose not to hardwire mine because i already had led under my front and rear seat which was a plug in so i just connect it to my led power
hope i answer you question

Woo Hoo my monitors arrived. I ordered Tuesday night from onfair and they arrived today, not bad for ground shipping. They look good, color matches the seats, minus the red striping. I think I am going to hire the pros for this one, seems like a pain to wire it all up and get it tapped into the main power. I take on any and all DIY projects around the house but I am not quite as brave in the car I have an appointment monday to have them done.

This a great find Kmoney! and looks simple to use. I am hoping to order this weekend maybe. I am curious if anyone has this with the black leather seating on 2010 SV? If you have kids and funds are tight, then this is the way to go. Also ebay has PYLE, not sure how good but under $150 i've seen.
