cars look great, the round tips n the borla exhaust don't flow with the car, hopefully they will have an oval option when buying

To be honest with my best time was a 14.458 in the 1/4 miles @ 97.50mph. I was restricted a lot by the aFe Takeda Intake. If I had the factory box on (thinking about putting back on) I think that I would have ran much better.

The exhaust sounds amazing though.

I saw you guys running on the track in the pics; do you have any timeslips or dyno numbers, normally they have the dyno there so you can get some numbers.

Was this a 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile track? Sorry about all the questions, just trying to see what you guys ran that day.

So...If I'm reading this all correctly, a stock Maxima ran nearly identical times as a Maxima w/ Intake & Exhaust?

true and sometimes beat it. I believe the problem was the short ram intake. You just can't suck up all sorts of super-heated air and expect power. With the stock unit, the engine is getting cooler air quicker than the short rams.

12:07 slip and 1:05 slip, look at the 60', 330' & 1/8, Kam's car had more mph than mine. I take from the numbers that he had a hard time off the line (due to the hot intake air) but once moving, he had better numbers/power, but just couldn't catch up before the line.

for 7thGens, When running some of the older Max's, they would jump to a quick lead but I would reel them in by halfway and take them to the line. Just need to improve the starts somehow.

Yes you are reading that correctly, lol. I think that it was the intake that was slowing me down because for starters it was a Hot day and the intake was just sucking in hot air (which we all know isn't a good thing), and also the intake come to find out after showing Mr. Cattman isn't cycling the air and its not getting the proper flow of air into the engine so the intake was actually my down fall.

I think the times would still be the same with a diff CAI. Maybe a tenth or two faster but that's it. It comes down restriction IMOP. Coming from a 600hp cobra I tried four kinds of intake and ended up with one that put the filter in the wheel well (protected) and it didn't make much difference. Still 14's. I had an open CAI on my Lightning and was told I would never run a 12 in the 1/4.....12.7 @ 106. HAHA to that guy.

Ya from what I understand from what was said to me if I was running with the stock box then the times would have been much better.. I am hoping for R2C to finally come out with their product soon that way I can get a system with a heat shield. If that dosn't make things better then I think I am going to go back to stock and see how that is.

I looked at the intakes when I first got the car and didn't like how well the sealed off. It seemed as if they were just pulling hot air from the engine area. I always have thought untill they produce somthing better that the stock box is better because it ports cooler outside air in. After looking at my options I decided to just put a K&N in the stock box and wait for something better to come out.

I agree with you 100% I jumped to get the intake because at that time I though that just adding an intake onto your car gave you better gas mi and better HP but now I understand that it doesn't always. The only thing that I am worried about now is that I am putting the factory box back on but I have a cat-back exhaust and soon to install Y-Pipe is that going to off balance everything or should that be fine?

Others can answer your worries better but i dont think you will have any problems. I am going to be I the same situation once I get my Y pipe and I don't think I will have any troubles. With the factory box I don't think our engines are struggling for air at all. I think it would be worse the other way around if your intake far exceeds your exhaust. Even if with the factory box if it struggles for intake (which I don't think it does at all) I would imagine that you cant exhaust more than you can take in so having a more capable exhaust is better than having a more capable intake. No "backpressure". I think we will be fine Kam. Ask MaxloverAZ, I think he is pretty good in this area.
