Show Me Your Grille

Just put my new T-rex Powder coated black grille in today. I still need to do something about the visibility of the bumper bracket behind the grille but I am really loving the new look.

I love it, I want to do this on my Black Maxima. Can anyone photoshop it... i'm afraid the grill might disappear on a black car. I really like the contrast on your car. How much did it cost to buy and paint the grill and can you see through the grill?

Its powder coated. You can see through the grille at the right angle and i want to do something about that. if the grille were chrome and not black the eye wouldn't notice anything beyond the grille as much. Since it is black, things in the background are a little more noticeable. Its not a big deal but i am a perfectionist and I have a couple ideas of how i can solve this issue.

Nice grille man!!! I like your style, lol...

That bumper piece drove me crazy too, I painted it a flat black and it is much much less noticable.

Thanks guys. I am really liking the new look. I bought some mesh material to place behind the grille to cover the look of the radiator but still let air flow though. I also had a buddy bring me some vinyl to cover the bracket right behind the grille that is painted the cars color. I figured id just sticker over it instead of painting over it for now. I will post up some more pics when I am complete.

Looks pretty slick. I wonder how that would look in chrome on my Super Black? Something has to be done about that dull grey/not black grill backround they put on our Max's. What were they thinking?

The real question is......Why aren't you driving that pimped out Aerostar in the backround? Looks like he is "rollin" on some sweet 16's

yea Nykbob, you car looks great. I just hate you for getting such a good deal! haha im j/k.

Hey nykbob, did you have to do anything about covering up stuff behind the grille to make it less visible? I think that with the chrome grille your eyes really dont go past the shinny chrome. With my black one it was really noticeable from the front the shinny raditor and bracket behind the grille. I did find a fix for myself however and it looks 100x better. you can no longer see anything past the Grille which is what I was going for. the blacked out look. Ill post up a couple pics tomorrow to show off the difference. I think the smooth billet really complements the curves on our cars!

No More annoying Silver radiator/condenser, silver pipes or brace behind the Billet. Looks a lot cleaner, it was driving me crazy!

I also debadged the rear of the car. i removed the crooked maxima and nissan logo.looks clean.

^ not bad just needed a extra hand so not to scrath it when inserting the tabs.its very easy to scratch the car doing the upper and lower.so i tapped everything around it to make sure.

^not hard but you need to becareful and take your time.make sure you tape off everything well as when you pull out the stock grille and insert the new grille you could scratch the paint easy.
and make sure you line up the template corectly to drill the holes for the lower grille. theres no going back afterwards.

You have to take off the under plastics to get your arm behind the lower grille section. it might work with the lip.

I agree totally about the look killer. I had to do somthing about it myself because it was killing me. Working in the a/c field we see people paint their a/c units and it causes a higher head pressure due to the lack of ability to transfer heat as well. I was afraid of painting mine for that reason. Heat transfer. So I decided to go a different route to black out the background.Ya feel me??

On a stockbcar and a newer more open.type grillebthat allows more air to pass by i wouldn't worry about it to much. Even my supra i painted the front mount black and not one issue and its been five long abusing years!

Those are all good options, but I think the 2011 sv sport black grill is the best. I ordered mine already, should be on the car tommorow.

I was looking at that grill too but decided to roll with the stock and do the "inexpensive mod" to the lower area to match. For now I'm pretty happy with the way it all looks with the lip added. IMO some of the aftermarket grills are a a little too flashy, but the blacked out ones all look pretty hot...gotta admit.

I just hate doing modifications, nothing beats factory fitment and for $180 its not cheap but not as much as the other options.

Just painted the honeycomb on my grille white. I'm not 100% sure if I like it or not but it is different. If I stay with it, I'd have to paint the lower grille section white also...What do you guys think? I also bought 6k HID's for the fogs and Stillen front lip today!
