John,

Your mods look great on that black Maxima. Would you mind posting some closeups of the grill and the lower side moldings?

The side moldings wouldn't work as well on my white car, but I'll bet it would look good on mystic jade and other colors.

Here are closeups - I used 3/8" molding on grill - I think I will redo it with 1/2", to make it show up a little better. Side molding is 1 3/8". All moldings I have used are Cowels - from AutoZone or Advanced Auto local stores.

I applied the lower grill mod last night. Looks great! Literally took 5-10 minutes to do. Fantastic idea. I think Nissan needs to steal this and make it stock!

glad it worked out for you.

Also nice to split the package with ya! I just didn't need an extra 13' of trim lying around to help clutter my garage.

hahaha. like I said, measure a few times and cut longer than you've measured then trim to size. I'll need to step outside and take a look at your handiwork.

I just did mine as well. I did the middle as well as the surround. Just trying to emulate the grille style. I was able to find the chrome strip at the local auto zone.

I jumped on this band wagon as well, I think it completes the look of the front end.

I'd like to see how 1/8" looks. Can you post some closeups?

Sorry just found the receipt and it wasn't Autozone it was Advance Auto on Jericho Tpke (Jamaica Ave) in Floral Park. I took the last 1/2" off the hook that day, not sure if they replenished.

How are you guys finishing the end cuts? Any close-ups, especially for the rain gutters?

Thanks.

rain gutters I cut flush with the roof line front and back window then colored edge of molding with a black permanent marker(white didn't look good)just a note this was the 5/8" molding

roof spoiler would finish the back nicely(on order)

Thanks.

I used a chrome spray paint made by Krylon (bought it at WalMart) - brushed it on so I didn't have overspray. Looks decent.

This is the tape I used.

RICKO independently located this same tape and uploaded a picture of his car with this mod in message #74 of the original thread. It looks great on his car which appears to be Ocean Gray.

Looks like a good mod, I was thinking about replacing my grill with the new 2011 blk one, I was wondering where I can get this mod from ?

And do they offer it in GunMetal or Smoked Blk to color to match the new Grill by any chance???

personal choice....the 5/8" is same thickness as the part your sticking it to in the lower grill and the 2 other openings by the driving lights,on the roof it fills the rain gutters perfectly with just a little gap on both sides, flip a coin if all else fails 1/8" isn't a big deal...

Where did you get the 5/8" from? I've looked at my local O'Reileys and Vato Zone with no luck. Also, what brand did you get?

I did this mod today...amazing!!!! looks sooo much better

i think that 1/2" would go perfect for the lower side grilles...but i think that 5/8" fills in the gap nicely at the top of the car...pics are below

link to album => http://img832.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=sam0119resize.jpg

finished product:

pics of roof with 1/2" ... (i think i'm gonna go purchase 5/8" unless someone wants to swap me the rest of their 5/8" for the rest of my 1/2" ... just as long as it enough to cover both sides)

used test strip...aka...1st piece that I FAIL'd on

wat do you guys think?...should i just finish the roof off with the 1/2" or finish it with the 5/8"????

YELLOW MANTIS-I got mine from canadian tire, but it's the same brand as the other 1/2"on here...they had all thicknesses up here from 1 1/2"down to 1/8". you might have to look around or get the store to order you the 5/8"
LIFE-try the 1/2" on the roof if it looks good keep it if not move up in size.do one side first if you like it then finish off other side, also to anyone doing roof and grill openings out of one package cut carefully!! at the end you will only have a little left over...not much room for errors!!!

yea...i went to the store yesterday to pick up the 1/2"...and saw the 5/8" as well...only 1 left...i'm gonna go right now and pick it up...thanks

yea...i measured out the roof with what i have left and it's enough with some extra...i think 5/8" is the way to go for the top...1/2" looks small because the the chrome around the windows are a lot bigger than 1/2"

edit: i'll go buy it and then decide...just as long as i have it...i can always return it as well

after your new close up pics the 1/2" looks to small on the roof....gaps are too big
post a pic with the 5/8" and the roof spoiler when you get it done...curious as to how that will look, thanks
tell YELLOW MANTIS what store you got the 5/8" from as your both in the usa(not too many canadian tires there ha ha)

FAIL....they have all the sizes except 5/8"...well...they had 5/8" in chrome but it was door moulding....tooo thick

i bought my stuff at pepboys in costa mesa...i've gone to 3 different pepboys and they carried everything except the 5/8" in just the chrome trim

edit: i just went cowles website: http://www.cowlesproducts.com/retail...g_molding.html
and they don't offer a 5/8" ... goog67 can u double check the size for me if it was cowles brand...thanks

can't find my bill or packaging but I searched the store's website and it's not cowles (sorry) it's CUSTOM CHROME with the 3m tape...the website doesn't give part #s but I could call tomorrow and find out and post it here, hope that helps.mine was 5/8" as when I bought it there was no 1/2" so I just used 5/8" for it all and it worked out, especially on the roof.
LIFE-I just found part# for 5/8 cowles =COWT3705C 5/8" 18'
http://www.sfxperformance.com/parts/COWT3705C.htm#
