Experience painting Interior wood trim pieces?

Just curious if anyone had any experience painting the interior wood trim pieces of the premium package. Like the dash pieace, door pieces, and rear center console piece? Dont have my new Max yet but if I get the premium, im not a huge fan of the wood and would like to paint it like a glossy black. Any suggestions ?

I have no idea what the quality of these kits are, but there are a bunch of them on Ebay.

I dislike my premiums wood grain pieces also.i could never do a overlay kit so i would to laint them instead or trade with someones elses model pieces.just havent put much thought into it yet.i want to make sure i.dont make it tacky either.the gloss black is suttle enough but it may still need a different route to break it up a bit more as i have the white exterior and black interior

Thanks for posting but I would never use one of those kits that you just stick onto your exsisting pieces, it looks so obvious and cheap. Thanks though!!

Is it difficult to remove the pieces? How about putting them back do they return to the space and still fit tight? Ive seen your ride,,, nice whip... ever thought of getting them white???? I think the door trim would look good in white but as far as the dash it might be to much...

I couldnt color match it .It would be too much for me. I did that with my supra and it looks great just not for me.

So the overlay kits don't look good? I've never cared for them in the past but it's been 5+ years since i've seen one in person and had hoped they got better. I'm installing a single DIN radio in the dash and I have the carbon fiber ('09 SV Sport) so they don't make an installation kit that matches.

Maybe i'll just do a vinyl wrap as well and get it over with.

Does that screen display mean that you were in a call for an hour and 23 minutes. Good God, I like to enjoy the ride and hurry people off the phone. On topic, I think the overlay cheapens the look quite a bit but that's just IMO.

Yes it does! Unfortunately that was only the beginning of that call. It kept going after I got out of the car! I run a small software company so I'm stuck on the phone a lot. (Hooray for Sprint's $99 unlimited plan!)

On an up note, I was on my way home from Ray's Electronics with a trunk full of Alpine/Stinger/JL Audio!

Okay, thanks for the advice. I was afraid of that. I'll just wrap the installation kit and that lower piece in black vinyl and be done with it! Maybe i'll put a logo or something on it to break up the black.

Anybody know the best way to remove these interior pieces? I think I am going to remove and have painted "piano black". Will post pictures once re-installed.

I talked to someone about trading out wood for black. We each liked the others. What we discovered is that the center console trim is part of the head unit itself and not a separate piece that could easily be removed and replaced. I have the premium package with wood trim now and love it. Of course had to trade the entire car to get it! (There were other reasons as well, getting wood was a side benefit) If I was able to change anything it would be to remove all those silly logos for DVD, DiVX, etc.. In my opinion it really cheapens the look. Too bad I can't just sand/scrape them off.
