Does anyone know what this is??

I randomly found it sitting in my console! I'm dumbfounded. It doesnt appear to be broken in any way either.

Knowing nothing, it looks like some kind of very specialized shop tool or assembly line tool. How long have you had your car? Has your car been serviced yet? How many miles on the odo? Is there any form of metal visible anywhere inside this thing?

If there is an opening on the small end where a wire or connection could enter, it may be a part of some kind. If there is no opening in the small end, then it is probably a tool of some kind.

Give us some help here.

That's the piece I was asking about. It attaches under your drivers seat bottom in the back. I dont know what its for but it always ends up in the cup holder when you go to the dealer or a carwash. Its some type of hook but for what?

That is a trim piece from your seat. It could have come from either the driver's seat or passenger seat. It's normal home is just under the seat at the pivot point between the seat back and bottom. It is impossible to see without getting down in the rear floorboard with a flashlight. The real question is why put a piece of trim where it cannot be seen?

I think it's a plot car manufacturers have to drive the customers crazy. I had an item similar to this under the seat in my 2000 Lincoln LS. It kept coming off and would appear in the backseat floorboard from time to time. I finally took screws and attached it so it could not work loose. If they want something to look good, I believe it should be made to stay in place where it supposedly looks good - lol!

Probably for folks like me, who often have people sitting in the back seat with their vulnerable feet (we all wear open-toe sandals seven months of the year) stuck up under the front seats. This protects our toes from sharp metal.

Also, when my wife and I take long trips, we have all kinds of paraphernalia on the floor in front of the rear seats, and some things sometimes end up under the front seats. That thingie keeps us from cutting our fingers or hand on sharp metal when retrieving those things.

That is a good point. I have folks in my back seat and ride in back seats so infrequently that these types of things do not come to mind. We're not big on open-toe sandals here.
