Just remember overall sales for most of the mainstream manufacturers declined last month b/c at this time last year they still had the cash for clunkers program going on and that contributed to many sales, especially for Toyota, Honda, and Nissan so there was bound to be a decline since they don't have the same program this year.

Overall though, the Maxima's figures for last month are very impressive.

No surprise, the new Maxima is a great looking car inside and out. I know my son likes them a lot more than my 5.5 gen.

Absolutely. Toyota and Honda both had overall drops nearer 40%, which makes Nissan look OK by comparison. And the Maxima is REALLY on a roll.

Best of all, the Maxima is built in the US, using over 85% US made parts, while the Big Three American brands all still sell many vehicles NOT made in the US.

What is really a shame is an American muscle car legend, the Camaro is made and assembled in Canada. To hell with that! I'm not getting a Camaro to have it built in Canada, I don't care how great and efficient the Canadians are at putting it together and I have nothing against them personally, but a car like that needs to be built in the US. Next thing you know, the Corvette will be made overseas!

I just visited a local STEARLERSHIP, yes all caps. This one is really the cream of the crop. I went in to pick up my car at service because they actually resolved my problems and decided that maybe the 10 sport in white demo may be a good car for me to trade my warranty claim littered 10 sv. Long and behold after about 20 minutes of get to know you better the sales man came back(he was new and ok) with a $678 dollar a month payment with $3k down and $4995 for wheel locks and window etching. I almost got up and left but I wanted an explanation into the fees. Here is the breakdown as I remember.

$34500 for my SV
$4995 for the etch and locks-negative equity carried over
$3000 down payment
$39995 for the sport
That was double my current payment and was the same reason I didn't buy the current two from them.

Just wanted to vent sorry for hijacking.

I understand what your saying. For an American legend it should be build in America. It's like the ford model T being made in Japan.... Shouldn't happen especially when many foreign cars are made here in the U.S.

$39995 for the sport with not added options. What an insult! Did they take you for a fool? I have a 10 sv Sport tech/nav with summer tires for 31,500 with no trade in. I would have walked out. That's above MSRP for a plane sport.
Thanks for hijacking by the way... I understand though, what a joke!

All I can say is that, unless we are talking Canadian dollars here, this blows me away.

In the offer sheet I always compile and present to the internet manager when I am ready to buy, I include a $20 offest fee for the wheel locks and zero for the window etching, paint protection, upholstery protection, etc, etc.

The MSRP on my Premium plus Navigation package, etc, was just under $40,000, and I paid just over $34,000. But that was the first year of this new generation. Better deals than mine are happening every day now. And the Sport costs less than the Premium. I think several here have driven a Sport off the lot recently for between $31K and $32K.

You need to buy a $200 airtran ticket and hit the dealers in Atlanta. I am telling you that you can walk out the door with a 2010 premium with tech package for 35k brand new. We have so many more dealerships close to each other that they are fighting for business. They are also begging for used cars around here and paid me 14k for my 07 3.5SL Altima with 72k miles

"cash for clunkers" was in effect for august of 2009 that is why there is such a sharp sales decrease from 2009 to 2010 for all manufactures especially the asian companies ( more fuel efficient vehicles people wanted to buy) The sales of the maxima was not effected by the cash for clunkers program. Funny but the sales of the maxima has not been effected by the car recession either.
