Just got off the phone with riverside infiniti, the price for just paddles shipped was a whopping $165! That is waayyy too much IMO. I dont understand how a key piece of the vehicle like the start button is only $40, and peices of magnesium are $165!!

Juggernaut23 10-06-2010 01:41 PM

Did you get a part number? With a part # we can look else where.Retailmenot!

Let me check with my dealership next week. They love me heh. Maybe if enough people are interested i could work out some sort of reduced pricing.

I don't have the part#, but I hope it would be considerably cheaper else where. Today at Pine Belt Nissan, the guy couldn't even find a price for them.

Alright, somebody has to get this thread back on its original topic :slap:

GTR button is scheduled for delivery today, and hope to get it installed on Sunday this weekend. Will try to post pics of the install process. One thing is for sure- this is going to be a royal pain in the arse. My dealer wanted $350 to install it because of how many pieces you have to take off in order to access the back of the starter switch assy.

I'll let you all know how it went on Monday.

if you can get us a great deal, im in for a group buy....As long as these paddle shifts are easy to change

tigersharkdude 10-07-2010 07:24 AM

The paddle shifters might be a pain in the *** with the steering wheel on. When I worked at the plant they were very easy to install (but that was before the steering wheel was on) IIRC the screws for the "shifters" are right behind the steering wheel.

1sik4dsc 10-07-2010 02:21 PM

well guys here it is...I did a write up on it for anyone else looking to do this mod. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, This was really simple took me about 15 mins.

First step was to pop the plastic piece on side off
http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/y...01007-1533.jpg

Second is to pop off the plastic piece on the bottom of the steering wheel. Left side first!
http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/y...01007-1534.jpg

Now go to the right side
http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/y...01007-1534.jpg

You will then see a screw then holds the trim piece, unscrew with a Philips screwdriver
http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/y...01007-1535.jpg

Next gently pop out the trim piece to gain access to the igniton switch
http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/y...01007-1535.jpg

Next put your hand behind the ignition switch and push out GENTLY!

http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/y...01007-1536.jpg

unplug the switch
http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/y...01007-1536.jpg

Plug your GT-R one in
http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/y...01007-1542.jpg

Screw back the screw
http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/y...01007-1543.jpg

Pop in all the plastic triming
http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/y...01007-1543.jpg
http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/y...01007-1544.jpg

And you are finished! Here are the pics

took 15-20 mins to be exact, not a hard do it yourself mod at all

GM_Traitor3.5VQ 10-08-2010 05:44 AM

Dammit you beat me to the punch dude! I'm installing mine on Sunday this weekend. Thanks for the how-to, this is going to help when I plug mine in this weekend.

sgirgiss1214 10-08-2010 09:00 AM

Im sure, swapping out the paddles in our cars would be just a few more steps after this.

More involved than it was for my G. Nothing had to be removed. ;)

tigersharkdude 10-08-2010 09:17 AM

how did you manage that. did the button just pull out from the front?

tigersharkdude 10-08-2010 09:18 AM

On the G37, you can just reach behind with your fingers and push it out. :)

MaxLoverAz 10-08-2010 09:01 PM

Too bad you can only view it with the steering wheel in your lap. Does look nice but I want to see it....

GM_Traitor3.5VQ 10-10-2010 10:52 AM

Just installed the GTR button this morning. Literally took 10 minutes total. Nice little addition to the interior. Thanks again to 1sik4dsc for the photos on how to disassemble the dash pieces!

DiploMAX 10-10-2010 01:24 PM

Looks awesome with the paddles on the Sport Maxima.

2009maxima sv-sport 10-15-2010 07:46 PM

just got my button today hope to have it done this weekend.

Juggernaut23 10-16-2010 12:56 PM

Just put mine in and I found a much quicker way to put it in. I pulled with my finger nails only around the chrome ring portion and it all slid out without breaking a nail.lol lol.It took a bit of effort to pull it out with my finger nails but it slide out and in went the new one and all done in about 50 seconds.

2009maxima sv-sport 10-16-2010 01:55 PM

i did mine also today took me 3 mins to remove the panel and replace it thanks for the wright up on doing it john.

Tee00Max 10-26-2011 09:27 AM

Actually want to do this. I actually went outside from work and tried to pry it off with my finger nail and it came right out! Think im going to do this. The red would look nice with the all black interior!

Ghozt 10-26-2011 03:43 PM

if u like modding interior grab a set of body molding removal tools they're $7. I use them to remove all my interior pieces - they work GREAT and dont damage a thing.

http://www.amazon.com/Astro-Pneumati...=pd_sim_auto_1

and yea you can just pull off the little bezel around the button it's a super easy install

Tee00Max 10-27-2011 06:15 AM

I notice when you pull the chrome ring off, the whole thing comes out, I guess you have to seperate the chrome ring and seperate the actual button?

Ghozt 10-27-2011 07:53 AM

yea check out the instructions a few posts up. you push the button from the back and it separates from the chrome bezel

Tee00Max 10-27-2011 07:54 AM

Yeah i prob will have to go from the back but I was wondering since a dude earlier in the post said he just popped it out with his fingernail. I will have to go from the back if I have to though.

Ghozt 10-27-2011 10:56 AM

yeah...if you read the posts up above it's really simple. you pull out the chrome bezel with your fingernail or some plastic tool, then you push the button out from behind. you can take as much of the dash off if you want to, but you can just pop the button out. try reading the instructions above again

Tee00Max 11-04-2011 06:51 PM

Just got mine in today and installed with ease...Love the red it added to the interior!

Papies01 11-05-2011 05:21 PM

I did the gt-r button quick mod 3 mins literally fully function and looks great pics will be up soon for 50 bucks u can't go wrong

Papies01 11-05-2011 05:22 PM

By the way u don't need to take the whole dash apart just per a panel popper and u can pop out the chromo trim it come right out

Mikky 11-13-2011 01:44 AM

would like to change the start button led to green or blue instead of the orange/stock... too much orange inside the Max, looks like halloween.... not fond with the gtr arcade button
