Question DIY Push Button Start MOD

I seen other Nissan/Infinit owners have swapped out or modded.I see the GT-R and all the other push start button just drop right in.I also see people have changed the LED lights in them and the Key FOB slot holder to better match the interior lights. Here is a few links to others and how it looks.I may try the GT-R start button.

LOL That's me at the G37 board. It was the easiest mod ever. Tilt the steering wheel up all the way, reach in the back with your fingers, squeeeeze and puuuuuush it out!

10+ hp!!!

Seriously... not sure if installation for the 7th Gen Max would be more involved like it is with the 370... if I had to go the route of the 370 install, I simply wouldn't have done it.

***EDIT***

NissanUsa.com to the rescue... it looks like the same install method for you guys too...

the hardest part is probably taking off the plastic pieces by the steering wheel, cause it looks like it just pops in

Contemplating this DIY... although changing the LED behind the button with a red one might work just as well!

IMHO, the maxima is a sport luxury car, but mostly luxury. This mod doesn't seem luxurious, it looks like something you would install in a NASCAR...or something designed by ACME inc. Kudos to those that opt for the creativity, but I will sit this one out. ;-)

I'd like a red button like the GT-R one, but have it say DO NOT PUSH instead of Start..... But i'm weird like that.

The actual red part of the button doesn't, but the words (around and within the button) light up orange. Pics really don't do the button justice. It's a real bright shiny red.

The only thing you may need to be aware of for the install is that the cable/connector attached to the back of the OEM button is pretty short. You may need one of those screwdriver pick things to reach the clip behind the button to unhook it:

http://www.rapidonline.com/Tools-Fas...57/kw/hook+set

The whole process doesn't even take 5 minutes.

yeah, i saw this mod over at 370z.com (since my wife has a 370). although i don't think it'll look good in the premium level, it MIGHT look good in the sport cause of the red stitching in the leather(dunno the color of stitching in premium)

Just ordered mine! I like the look of the red button vs. the orange opaque stock ignition button. Should be a fun little project for next week.

I knew it was just a matter of time before this mode reached us maxima fans. It looks pretty cool. Where could I find the GT-R start button?

I agree with this perspective. When I first looked it reminded me of the aftermarket add-on ones on ebay. I think a red glow would be great but the red plastic looks too NASCAR. Not a knock at all to anyone who is planning it. Matter of fact I look forward to pictures that might change my mind. I also like uniformity and the orange (as ugly as it might be) is throughout the dash so I'm content with that.

For those not liking the red gtr button then replace the SMT leds on the stock button like the other guys did in 1 of my links above.

Damn thats real good, only $34.00. Seems like it's worth it. I was just in my car, it's gonna take a few good pokes to get that assembly out of the dash.

But the button is very high quality... it's a very glossy red that's hard to capture via photographs. I think it would look great in the 7th Gen too... I love it in my 2010 G37...

I wonder If I could get my hands on these GT-R style paddle shifters, they're magnesium with a leathery edge, look much better than the plastic ones in my car now

hard to see the shifters due to the small pic.... BUT, the 370z has a leathery material on the back side of the shifters and i wish mine had that....wonder if those paddles can be transferred onto the maxima.

They are just like the 370z's paddles. They can be transferred 100%, it would be as simple as taking out a few screws, taking out the plastic ones, and dropping these nice ones in.

Unfortuantely they dont, Only 7 Gens with power steering columns, have them. Which are sport and premium and they already come with shifters. I already have paddle shifters in my Sport. Im just talking about swapping the paddles only, for nicer material ones, like the GT-R paddles. WHich are also used in the 370z, and all infiniti models equipped with sport packages.

I was wondering the same thing but I can't find GT-R/Infiniti OEM Paddle Shifters anywhere. Sorry to thread jack but does anyone know of a place that sells just the Paddles?

any installed pics yet? The kit for the G37 non sport is around 400-500. Not sure if you can buy just the paddles not worth it if you have to buy all the pieces.

don't believe anyone's done the Button mod yet...they just recently ordered it, so i doubt they've received the GTR button yet.....

yeah, if the paddles can't be sold seperately, then i'll keep mine the way they are....

Thats what im gonna do. This is such an easy mod, the hardest part will be getting these style paddles in my hands. I know a whole kit for a g37 is like 250. These paddles shouldn;t be any more than 50 bucks, 75 at the most.
