Question Power Coating Process

I have been thinking about getting my stock wheels painted blk, power coated black.

I have "0" experience with it, not sure if its good idea or not?
Can it damage the wheel in way?
Jeopardize handling ride or quality in way at all?

Is there a right/correct way to do it? What is the correct process?

Cost:
I have shopped around and I have gotten a quote for $200 per wheel!!!
to $350 for set of 4 wheels. That's $800 Vs $350 Big difference!

Could you all explain the process in detail and share your personal experiences please! Any comments would begreatly appreciated.

Any shop I can go to in DC area/ VA area?

Thanks!

painting is the cheap way to go vs the pc. pc will last super long and they will not ruin your wheels. look at each places display items. if they dont have any leave.

yeah powder coating lol

they pretty much electronically charge your wheels or whatever you're getting powder coated then the gun shoots out the powder color of your choice and is attracted to the charge like a magnet. they put that product in a oven heat it up and a certain amount of time later take it out and then they let it cool and its good to go. thats the process

$350 for all four wheels sounds about normal.... i think a lot of places normally do it for like $75 a wheel or so......

and the process is correct as stated above....they normally sand or bead blast the wheels first to strip off the coating it already has, that way the "powder coat" can adhere to the wheel.

powter coating.

Your right about the media blasting its required for a proper media blast. Most companies that I have found cost 75-100 to media blast a maxima trunk worth of parts. I had 4 rims done a month ago for $100 on the blasting, and $150 for the gloss black pc, so $250 total. And they came out look brand new.

I've had some paintball gun parts powdercoated at Extreme Powdercoating in Lorton, VA. They did a great job and not very expensive.

There are plenty of shops in the DC/VA/MD area that do powdercoating. Just google it and you'll get at least 5 shops in the area.
