Easiest performance mods

Not that I'll be doing any performance mods to our family car, I'm just curious what are the easy perf mods to these cars.

for my Z06 it's without a doubt intake, headers, exhaust and a tune.

do these gain a good amount from a tune? how about an intake?

like I said, I'm mostly just curious and I'm not going to add mods to my family car LOL

nearly 300 ponies is enough for a 3 door. more than any car in it's class.

just pisses me off they stopped at 290.

when Z06 came out in '01 it was 385. they realized they needed to reach the magic 400 so the following years, it became 405.

I wish these were 300. so close to 300!!!

I wish there was a tune available for these cars. I would jump on it. I dont think Nissan is gonna cross past 300 in this car, they dont wanna approach Infiniti terrirtory. Maybe the 7.5 or 8 gens will break 300. As far as mods, I wouldnt buy an intake, headers or exhaust unless a tune is released. You just wont be getting everything you need.

It has no affect whatever on acceleration if the pedal is floored. The rest of the time, the car feels more lively.

I had the TSBs applied and strongly recommend it.

First let me say, "man I envy you". Reason: you have the car I want, I love the Vette, just a beast of a machine.

To answer your question though, if you go to ebay and type in 2009 Nissan Maxima, you'll probably find a list of items that you can possibly entertain yourself with.

Most of the mods for these cars do not add astronomical gains, headers would probably be your best bet (though I'm not sure those available will fit in an 09-11 model without modifying the hood), catbacks, intake and probably an ECU flash (not sure who's doing them for our cars though).

You could try this (don't know if it works though): http://www.gfchips.com/nissanmaxima.aspx
http://www.performancechipsdirect.com/Nissan/Maxima/

Or just go here and see what's up: http://www.custommaxima.com/

Good luck

in actuallity...290 is more like 210 or 200 to the wheels...just like ur z06 is more like 300 or 290 to the wheels...no need to compare a z06 to a max, or even mention in the same sentence...but i think most cars factory come with the issues u just described fixes to....air flow...and computer restrictions...same with the max...only change is there arent header designs out there cuz its only gonna be 3yrs old....for now intake, exhaust, and some suspension extras are all we can do...and programming ofcourse...but it wont make much of a diff besides a lil noise and maybe some pep in the step....still wont be a vette!!

i dont think the inifitys are really doing much more than the nissan...weight is lower...mods are more luxury...thats about it...lets not forget it is still nissan...just with a larger price tag...i kno a guy who dropped 7gs in his g35x...mainly cuz emissions are a pain in the ***...i can drop 2gs for the same w/out the hassle and be what...20hp less!! lets not forget....power to weight ratio guys!!! huge factor...unless i could cut my max in half like the website did on custommaxima.com

I actually just ordered a few Racingline parts and have been keeping my eye on Stillen for some others. I'm also going to Mexico and coming back the 22nd. Random.

actually, my Z06 dynoed 345 stock and 382 with the intake/headers/exhaust and tune. so it's not 290. a non Z06 corvette will dyno 290/300...

just have to throw that in there. don't underestimate the Z.

that is all

I personally am looking for "performance" parts to up the MPG of the car... not necessarily add hp, yet usually when you add HP/TQ you add mpg's because the car runs more efficiently

So what products should I be looking at from a MPG standpoint???

The only other items I may get not pertaining to MPG/Performance is a racingline strut bar and rear sway bar...and maybe a set of LIGHT aluminum aftermarket rims...anyone know how much the stock 18" rims weigh?

Anyone recomned and good old fashion drop in air filter? I was running a dry AEM in my tacoma pick up I traded in for the maxima. I like to think it gave me a little extra power and MPG. I was surprised that AEM doesn't make one for the maxima. whats up with that. So is anyone using anything similar?

For cheap you will probably get more bang for the buck with suspension mods like springs and upgraded sway bars.

Tire Rack lists the RSA tire 245x45x18 as 27 lbs. Continentals are lighter by 3-4 lbs each if that is a priority.

That is pretty heavy for an 18" wheel and some low pro tires... what are some lightweight wheel brands (Cast preferably to keep cost down)

Just a quick check American Eagle Wheels specifically MSR Wheels have 18" wheels in the 19-20lb range and 19" 21-22lb range...is 4-6lbs less per wheel THAT MUCH? Will MPG improve more than a few tenths?

I have the Bully Dog Gt gauge tuner and noticed huge differnences. It has a thing to do 0-60 times and mine went from 7.6ish to 7.1ish with the tune on it. These were as similar as I could make the runs hence the slow times. I have been hesitant to post it here earlier as the machine itself is the only real proof I have of performance gains. It does also feel way faster but count that as half in my head. I do take the tune off in the winter as no need for more horsepower then but will be putting it back on in the spring.

Damn that's slow as hell if you're talking about a 2009 Max. What kind of car do you have? My car has the BD tune and I consistently run 5.7-5.8 0-60 times.

I don't go by my buttdyno either, I have an app (Speedview) that is very accurate in my Android Phone which measures 0-60 and 1/4 mile times and it has consistently returned those times.

If I can get more traction with less wheelspin then I can go probably a little faster, I advanced my timing +4 degrees and raised my Rev Limiter to 7100 along with raising my idle +400 rpms as well.

I have a 2010 max. And these were done no preloading and questionable traction.
