Just curious as to what the spray can weighs before and after to understand how much weight is added each wheel?
If its properly dipped, it shouldn't affect it. Few grams thats all I'd say.. Good question though!

Yeah..Glossifier sounds like a good idea. Wait until you have to take it off, then tell me how awesome it is lol. I have been Plasti-Dipping before it became famous..done alot of Maxima's and peoples cars. The regular Plasti-Dip works fine. As soon as you add the glossifier and let it harden up..It is quite difficult to peel off!

As long as you do it on a non-windy day..or in the garage - with the temperature just right, you should be fine on making the rims look perfect. Just don't over spray it or you'll screw it up. The longer it dries the better too.

Look great! Good job. I've been looking for something to try to get the chrome around the windows and a the chrome ring around the grille to match the LE wheels. Maybe this will work.....i'll have to check it out.

After looking at the video again, it almost looks like there are sparkles in it, which I'm not to fond of. Maybe its just the lighting though.

So for daytime pics!
Mine is a limited edition though, that's what's gay. I wanted the dark wheels that were supposed to come with it, but dealer was trying to make me pay an extra grand for them.

Wow....at first when I read this, I was thinking you might have misunderstood the limited edition.....but now that I look at the pics, you are right. Everything else is limited edition except the wheels I guess.

That is horse crap.....i would go to the dealer and raise hell. Or call Nissan and tell them that dealer isnt selling the proper options with the limited edition.

I think the only way they got around it was because the car was certified pre-owned... so it wasn't brand new. They advertised it on their site with the wheels, but when I went to the dealer, the wheels weren't on it and they weren't sure where they were. When I asked to swap out the wheels with another ltd maxima that was brand new, they said weren't allowed because they'd get in trouble with nissan... So I dunno. This was the original ad: http://www.claycooley.com/web/new/Ni...ition_id=10425 This is my car, because vin and everything matched up... so not sure. It's all water under the bridge now anyway.

Thats sorta false advertisement/representation.......What could have happened to them, another swap sounds as if to me with a prior sale...........

ha....the car in the add is my exact car.....so we have the same car except for the wheels of course

Yeah....since its pre-owned, theres really nothing you could do. I hope you got the price lowered a bit without the factory wheels.

I still would have bought the car too though since spray paint only costs a few bucks....

First of all, this is such a nice job and great outcome to what you've done.. I'm really tempted to go with mine..

Second, whats the difference between the SV and the limited?

limited comes with HID headlights that have black in them, blacked out front grill, turn signal mirrors, different wheels, fog lamps and trunk spoiler

sv i think comes standard with leather, better radio/speakers and has options for premium and sport packages

I've got the fully loaded one. Sat Nav, sensors, Xenon, rear curtain, leather, ventilated seat, fog lamps, mirror turn signals, sun roof, keyless entry, keyless go...etc is this the limited :\ It doesn't have a blacked out light though!

And sorry to hijack this thread :$

Is your sunroof the double sunroof? You said ventilated seat, so I'm pretty sure you have the premium package of the SV model. The rear sunshade also is a premium feature.

Just sunroof, GCC countries don't have moonroof as an option, I noticed US Spec cars have the moonroof option.

Yeah, I have to agree here. Especially if they're advertising the car with the dark hyper silver wheels.

That would have been my first negotiating point ... if they were not budging on price or wheel replacement I would have walked away telling them they could look forward to several well placed online reviews about their dealership and salesman.

But to each his own ...

Your wheels look like they came out great!

Keep us posted about lowering the car ... I'm interested in doing this as well.

Lol @ "wait until you have to take it off" dude.... What a mission to remove the plastidip...... Some parts would come off easy, but some parts were a pain in the ****.... Had to break it down with a bit of gas and a rag....I'm tempted to paint my stockers, but after removing them off my old ride, don't want to go thru the hassle....

^ its all about the prep work...if you spray a thin layer of the spray on wax...taking off the plasti dip is a breeze...technically that what you are suppose to do whether its a clear bra or plasti dip

That May be true for Plasti-dip regular..but not the glossifier.. I know this because I have tried.

^ i'd recommend peeling it off and then taking your time with doing those corners. I would also recommend using a pin stripe to go over the edges...it looks great afterwards!
Keep me posted!

I agree, I don't that it works well on the 09-11 Sport rims....Looks better on the 18 inchers in this case.

No Problem. I have uploaded the pictures below. This is what gloss would look like if you used the black. It's pretty much the same as using Meguiars Hot Wheel Tire/Wheel Shine. I used to have the gloss coat over the Plasti-Dip..but it peels much easier than the regular cans of Plasti-Dip. So, personally I recommend the regular Plasti-Dip with a Tire Shine Applicator when you want to go out and show off.

Some Advice & Tips when Plasti-Dipping:
1) Clean the wheel, make sure its dry and not wet - I Use Windex & Turtle Tar Remover - Paper Towels so no Microfiber Fuzzies get on the wheel
2) I Do 5 Coats..5 Minutes Rest and then 15 Minutes on the Last Coat
3) Don't hold the can too close to the wheel - it will cause drips & bubbles after drying
4) Lay Rim down on a flat surface with newspaper or cardboard behind it
5) Weather is pretty much key. You will never be able to plasti-dip in the cold because of the spray. Do not attempt in the wind..do it in a garage if you need too. If you're in an area with insects..that could affect the wheel too believe it or not.
6) If you have a bubble..you will have to quickly use your finger to wipe it and redo it quickly..I personally would do it over again.
7) When completely finished and putting tires on..Let it sit for at least 5 hours..I let it sit for 7-12 Hours to completely dry.
8) If you have leaves or more importantly loose rocks in the driveway or street by you..get rid of them - could cause it to rip the Plasti-Dip
9) Pop Out the Nissan Caps & Plasti dip them individually
10) The lug nut holes are the most difficult part because generally the plasti dip will not reach or it'll drip - or you'll mess it up with the lug nuts. For this, I recommend a circular pattern and then let it dry. When putting the lug nuts back on the car...carefully I mean carefully screw them in then tighten them up. - No one ever notices a mess up because its covered by lug nuts - But I like perfection
11) It's easier to take the wheels off with a partner, but better to plasti-dip yourself - You can time it easier and you know your own pattern of doing it.
12) Cut the excess off using a toothpick or fingernail and slowly/carefully remove the excess in a circular motion (the tire pretty much)
13) the Outer rim generally is what most people end up missing..You are going to want to walk around the tire and spray those carefully without making it drip.

Those are my Advice/Tips - Maybe not in that order..but You'll get better results by doing those things. I may have missed a few pointers but most likely I haven't. You probably have seen or heard some of these before, so I apologize in advance. Sorry if I misspelled any words too. In the end, you need to be patient, organized, careful and time efficient!

Good Luck! - Maxi

I took these pictures today from last nights wash. I never let anyone wash or clean my car. The car wash can withstand the Plasti-Dip wheels, but some of the help can be rough on the wheels and end up screwing them up. Oh and forget about bringing your car in for a wheel balance or tire rotation, Good Year dinged up one or 2 of my tires..thankfully very minor..But I will redo them when its warmer out.

Doing one tire at a time isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, I believe you could buy jack stands for $10 each and let the car be held by those. My brother got the stands for $3 a pop at one of our stores over by me. Pretty awesome deal. Another thing that you could do..but will take no responsibility for this...is cement blocks. I put my Honda Accord v6 on Cement Blocks..and it held real well. Just be careful where and how you place them.

If you choose to do 1 wheel at a time..You'll need a lot of patience..and don't let your hands, legs, back to be tired. You have to focus!

1 Wheel at a time Method:
- Take Wheel Off
- Clean it
- Dry it
- 5 Coat Method - 5 5 5 5 15 - Let it Dry..Make sure hands have no grease or oils on them.
- 30Min-1hr Rest..Reassemble wheel
- Repeat the previous steps.

Pepboys, Autozone rent out jack stands I believe..those mechanical ones that make every hard working mans life so much easier.

Haha, A few shots wouldn't be bad at all..and then beers right after..hell yeah..Beer goggles!

I bought the silver metalizer wheel kit from dipyourcar.com and used about 3 coats of black (2cans) and 2 coats of silver (1 1/2 cans).

the lighting in this pic makes the wheel look lighter/grayer than it is. The picture below has a more accurate look.

fricken made a mistake.... i had the slightest imperfection when i checked the wheels today, so i decided to spray some metalizer on it to fix it.... Apparently it's too runny after the plasti-dip has had time to set and harden... and it made the previous spray liquify, so i messed up the wheel even more. Luckily it's only the center cap. Other than that, they all came out great.

The next thing I'll probably do is lower my car.... so if anyone in the DFW area has a shop that can hook me up on a good deal for spring install (or even a discount on eibach springs) i'd be greatly appreciative!
nice job on the rims bro. you should get a glossifier plasti dip like 2 cans and put another 4 coats on there it will make your rims shiny. not gonna lie though definitively looks weird after doing only black rims lol

Plasti Dipped Eye Lids

Well I got swooped up with all this plasti-dip craze and tried it out. Pretty easy to use. I didn't want to go with flat black so I found some metallic gunmetal paint at Home Depot that kind of matches the factory paint. My advice is take the time to prep and tape everything up properly.

I think everything came out ok. I'll be going ahead and doing just the face of my wheels in metallic gunmetal with plasti dip as a base next week.

Anyways, here are the pics... sorry about the birdcrap LOL
