Anthracite dip with glossifier. Sorry the pic isn't great, but you get the idea.

Is that the "true metallic" antracite color? It doesnt look as metallic as I expected.

I don't get this whole plastidip craze! Lol. Minor details of here and there, but dipping the whole car?! I think it just can look cheap, maybe I'm the only one! Especially when the paints perfect!!! Eh to each their own, just see it everywhere! Lol.

It rained today, so I wasn't able to shine up the ride real nice for yall. The water beading is a nice effect for the photo.

I think it looks pretty good. It could be cleaner, but from a distance... you can't tell that there are any big issues with the plasti dip.

I like how it really brings out the chrome of the Nissan emblem and the outer chrome lining. I think it goes well with the chrome lining mod down on the bottom front grille.

I did it mostly to give the car a more aggressive look and have less chrome in the front. Plus, I wanted to stand out from regular 7th gens.

How do you guys get it to turn out so well. my wheels turned out wonderful but the window trim looks terrible. When I pulled the tape off some sections came off with it.

Can I add to the existing dip if I get chips in my wheels and grill...just keep adding layers till winter is over?

The wheels are easy because there's no tough masking. My trim looks pretty bad but only in certain spots and I did just one thick coat. If you just take your time with it it'll be smooth. You don't wanna tape all the way up to the trim though on car side since u can peel a wide strip off of the car. The window, put tape all the way to the rubber seal and then when you pull the tape up it should break at the crease.

Wheels, skirts, lowest part of bumpers, grill, emblems and mirrors. I have also dipped my boss's GTR skirts, bumpers, mirrors and he wants the roof done.
People have asked what it takes to get it to come out "perfect"... As with painting anything, its all about preparation. Proper cleaning and taking your time between coats and even spraying

has anyone had their whole car dipped? I assume its much less expensive than vinyl wrap... I called a place yesterday but nobody has gotten back to me yet... What would this cost (if someone did it)

does temperature have an effect on plastidip? I'm in NY and for the last couple weeks been playing around with some colors... I do it exactly the way it supposed to be done, but it just never turns out 100% for me... the finish isn't like you guys have (not so smooth), its harder to peel (3-4 coatings).. Just wondering if its the temperature or i'm doing something wrong... the videos Ive seen on how to do it from dipyourcar.com are from FL... I'm in NY and the temps have been around 40-50 deg.

Just speculating, but I would guess the colder temperatures would make the dip harder and more brittle, making it more likely to chip and tear as you peel it off. As for application, the website says:

The Plasti Dip went on just fine, and dried in the usual amount of time with no problems.)

It's easier to work with in warmer weather, but if u must do it in colder temps I'd place the dip in bowl of hot water before using. It'll def lay on smoother

That's what i was doing, in between sprays i kept the can in the boiler room where its around 70-75 deg... My concern is the temperature of the surface im spraying... i was just thinking of maybe hitting it with a hair dryer in between coats to warm up the surface a bit. tonight it should be around 35-40 deg out here.

im in jersey. I found the best way to get a smooth finish is to maintain a constant distance from what your dipin. Cant be too close or too far. I typically stay about 10-12 inches away and it worked out great. Good luck.

This is a closeup, I have added in this pic two coats of Plasti Dip Smoke and a coat of Metalizer to tone it down a bit.

Thanks! I actually did and then peeled it since the chrome ties into the chrome on the upper half. If you wanted that look though you could just leave it dipped. Thanks again.

Ahh gotcha...you mean dip the center cap and peel back to expose just the "Nissan" with the center cap matching the rest of the wheel. that would look good.

Lol yes and no, if u pop the center caps off you'll see behind how the emblems just pop off, dip the cap and the emblem pops back into place. I did this when I dipped my wheels, makes a world of difference

It's just easier and much cleaner to do it this way instead of painting then cutting them out

Try one out and see if u like it

So you dipped it black, then Metalizer, then smoke? What did the smoke do to it?

The Metalizer after a couple of coats gives you that pop but it also lightens up the wheel color, so I hit it with Smoke to bring it back to the color I wanted and dusted again with Metalizer just enough to bring the pop back.

I am also going to smoking all of my chrome trim this weekend with the Smoke since my car is parked anyway due to me baking my headlights and painting the housings.

Will do! I'm not a fan of "murdering" the car out but the smoked/toned down look I'm liking. I've also tinted the taillights (minus the reverse) along with the side mirror signals and fogs, but only 42%.

Just went to dip your car.com site and saw the new Anthracite metallic dip. That's the color I was going to get my 370z Sport rims powder coated. I'll be trying this instead. I love plasti dip, have for a while.

+1

Completely agree. Plasti-dip is arriving by end of business tomorrow but I have to wait for spring to get here.

My ext. color is metallic slate, will complete window trim, handles, MAXIMA and Nissan logo on back of car along with chrome strip on trunk above rear plates

For front grill just gonna do the Nissan logo only along with surrounding chrome on outside borders of the grill but gonna leave the gray polished finish alone.

Just dropped of wheels to get powder coated today, pretty pumped
