Steering Wheel Radio Controls

Question for someone who really has an answer:
THe radio controls on the steering wheel will no longer be used for my new pioneer HU so with that being said. Can I use those buttons and wire in a relay for the LED strip for outside my car?

Thats a good question. Let me find out for you. You can get a module to take back control of your steering wheel controls if you really want them.

I don't see why you couldn't. It's probably just a matter of tracking down the correct wire(s) in the harness and splicing into it with a new wire running to whatever you want to control.

A couple problems i see is none of the radio controls are really open/closed when you hit the button. Say for instance if you wired them to exterior LEDs i could see pushing the button turning them on only if you held the button down and turning off when you let go of the button.... Also i have no idea what the voltage would end up being..

Good point ... Hmmm....maybe a relay in between that opened the circuit with a click then turned it off with the next click.... starting to seem like more work than its worth lol...maybe ill just get the module to reconnect them for my radio.
