19 or 20 rims???

fellas...i got an sv premium with the 18" wheels riding on 245/45/18. if i go 19" with 245/40/19 i assume i dont need to drop my car to have have same ride height as stock. if i go 20 how much if at all do i need to drop? or will riding 245/35/20 be enough? i live in chicago where the streets arent great and i just leased this car so i dont want to fiddle too much with springs

thanks in advance!

you can go up to 21" and have the same ride height, but when you get bigger wheels, you have to get thinner tires, and thinner tires makes the wheel gap more noticeable. it's up to you whether you wanna lower it or not

Also keep in mind that as the wheels get larger, requiring thinner tires, you become more vulnerable to damage from potholes. And these past two horrible winters have left more potholes than I can remember ever seeing, and the Great Recession has left governments with no money to fix them.

Light you are so right on this, in alot of areas the roads are a literal mess! Alot of areas have already stated that road repair is not very high on their agenda's right now!

Good point. I was in downtown la a few weeks ago and this street had huge pot holes about every 20ft. I had to zig zag to avoid them. Its a shame the city let it get that bad. With low profile tires you have to keep the tire pressure higher than the stock tires. I check my pressure once a month.

I'm back at home in the LA metro area and was in Downtown on Friday............a mess up their. Their has been lots of rain out here since late December, I mean lots.....The rain just keeps re opening the patches of tar that use use to fill the holes.

For the love of god, please go with 20". 19" tires are waaaaaaaaay more expensive than 20". I will never ever buy another car with 19" rims again.

this maxima forum is more in tune with styles like this so maybe u may want to consider this as one of your choices. I'm usually into cheesy, ricetastic bland wheels...most of the people here love this kinda stuff here

Well When u get 20's they will fit the fenders better than 19's, I would recomend a drop on eibach springs, just so everything looks flush. Also look for a good offset so the wheels are wider and fill out the fenders.

im trying to stay away from dropping since the car is leased. are you saying if i dont drop the car it will stand too high even if i drop to a 245/35/20?

There will still be a considerable amount of gap. Im on stock sport 19's and I feel the ride height is wayy high, especially when I take corners, so I could imagine how it would feel with 20 inch rims. It might not be high for you, but for my taste, it would.

there are two approaches for the beautiful max...1, u can just lower it with some 20" wheels kinda like how bmw and mercedes come low straight from the factory.

or 2, u can go coilovers with calculated and fitted wheels but that's more for the advanced user.

i cant say i compared the stance on the stock 19's vs 18. is it that much of a difference?

Your ride height and fender gap is going to be the same with 18"-20" if you're reducing the size of your tires. The only way to reduce the height/gap is by lowering the car. 20" 245/35/20 will give you stock height to answer your original question.

^this. like i said before, you can go up to 21s with stock ride height. but with low profile tires, it creates the illusion that the wheel gap is more. 245/45/18, 245/40/19, 245/35/20, 245/30/21 are all 26.7" tall.

It depends on the width. And if you want to stretch your tires at all.

Re máxima 2020

I have a 2020 Nisan maxima sv with stock 18s but bought 19x8.5 and 19x9.5. Staggered wheels. But I have concerns about the offset the front are +32 nd the rear +38. Just need to know if I can fit those in my maxima
