Atrix/Android Downloading Contacts

I have just received an AT&T Atrix phone. I can not figure out how to download my contacts to the Phone book in my Maxima. I could NEVER get it to work with the iPhone.

Any suggestions ?

You're in luck as your phone is one of the rare examples that actually supports PBAP.

Here are all of the bluetooth profiles that your phone supports:

Supported Bluetooth Profiles

Your Motorola ATRIX uses Stereo Bluetooth® technology 2.1+EDR

The following Bluetooth profiles are supported:

Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP)
Audio/Visual Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)
Hands-Free Profile (HFP)
Human Interface Device Profile (HID)
Headset Profile (HSP)
Object Push Profile (OPP)
Personal Area Networking Profile (PAN)
Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP)
Serial Port Profile (SPP)

First make sure your connected to your car via bluetooth. I'll assume you already have that done.

You can only transfer one contact at a time to your car, so on your phone open a contact, right click for the contact menu and and you should see an option named "share name card" click it and you'll get a send/cancel button. Choose Bluetooth in the next screen.

or

You can download a free app from the market place called "Bluetooth File Transfer" by Medieval Software and many folks have been successful. I haven't had any success with the Maxima using this app, so I've had to resort to sending one contact at a time.

try downloading an app to your phone called bluetooth file transfer. makes transferring your contacts to your care easy and all at once.

I'll use my 09 as an example...using a motorola Droid 2.

There are two phonebooks in my 09. The Standard....one you can use while driving and the "Downloaded Phonebook"

As MaxLoverAZ so rightly describes, you may only download a SINGLE contact to the Standard Phonebook at a time.

If, however, you wish to download all your contacts to the "downloaded phonebook" (which to me has limited value as you can only access it when the vehicle is NOT in motion on my 09) here is the procedure I used....

On your Android select contacts---share name cards...Select All...Select Done...(after done select Send Via Bluetooth) at which point you will be prompted to select to which bluetooth device...Send to My-Car. Quickly...go to Settings..Phone..Download Phonebook..download all on your Max. In my case...less than 20 secs and 200 contacts were downloaded to the "Downloaded Phone Book."

You can now add from Downloaded Phone Book to the Standard Phone Book at will (as long as you are stopped!) and add voice tags as well.

Hope this helps.

Our cars don't support FTP.
