Severely scuffed rim
Severely scuffed rim
Somehow one of my stock rims got a series of severe scuffs on it. More like a bunch of gouges in the outer part next to the tire. I have no idea how it happened.
Is it possible to repair such damage - like at a body shop - or do I just need to buy a new rim?

I see your in NY, if your anywhere near the five boroughs there are alot of places that offer this service. There is one that my cousins used called Al''s Hubcaps, he does awesome work.http://www.alshubcaps.com/als_hubcaps_002.htm

I know it wasn't me, and my wife doesn't drive my car very often since she doesn't like it. She said she didn't hit anything that she knows of...
With the level of damage, I can't imaging not knowing when it was done. Unless it WAS a ninja curb.
Hmmmm I think we just found out who's REALLY behind this!!
I thank you goodnight
Dude, pick up some used rims here in the classified section, you can usually find a full set for around $1000 with rubber.
I hit something the other week, was coming out of a chick'fe'la, trying to establish a chicken finger dipping station while i was pulling out into the adjacent plaza to get on the road headed home 3 hours away; (dipping and driving isn't illegal, but it should be) Anyway, I didn't even make it to the street when I started to fumble the sauce, so a quick look down to fix, next thing I knew I traveled up the grade of the curb, then dropped back off...man I was pissed at myself...because I saw the median, I thought I was holding the car straight.
So I got out to look over, and as it turns out no damage. The good year triple tread tires I have has this huge lip at the bead...tire was scuffed a bit right up to that lip, and then zero damage on the rim. What I'm saying is, there are many tires out there with that extended rubber lip, definitely a good design for when you're under attack by ninja curbs...
check my thread...i repaired a set of gouged wheels...i started w/ aircraft stripper and started sanding w/ 80 grit sandpaper...thats just the way i did it.

2 miles per gallon? What type of boat you have. Every boat I have owned it's fuel consumption is in gallons per hour.
I have a Sea Ray 270 Amberjack with the Mercruiser 350 MAG engine spinning a Bravo III outdrive. (Small block V8 with 300 HP). At most efficient cruise (~25 mph) I burn about 12 GPH. At "happy" cruise of 28 MPH I burn about 15 GPH.
I stopped by the guy rtitan suggested, Al's Hubcaps. He said repairing it would required welding (I guess to add back enough metal to then polish out), a day's time, and $125. I'll take that over a new rim -or set of rims. I'm going to get a quote from a mobile rim repair co. as well.
I've thought about getting new set of rims/tires for summer use and keeping the stock ones for winter, but I don't think that's in the plan. I don't really want to take up the space in my garage to store them, either.
